Food was great. We love the basil soft shell crab and papaya salad dishes. Price are okay. And they are pretty consistent with the taste.

Worse than so-so 4/9/2008

I was really happy when this place opened because it's close to my house and I love Thai food, but after giving it two tries?I'm done. It's kind of funny that it used to be a McDonalds because it seems to me that it's a Thai version of that now. The food was bland and all tasted like it came out of a package. I had Pad Thai and it just tasted like black pepper. I prefer Thai Paradise on Las Tunas. They have an awesome Sizzling Spinach dish that has a crazy good peanut sauce on it (I want some NOW). Order that with the beef and you'll never regret it. Pros: Ummm, it used to be a McDonalds? Cons: Bland food, gruesome decor more

Not as good as it used to be 2/24/2007

We used to really like this place, but the last few times have been very inconsistent. We used to order their BBQ chicken and for the first few times, it was really good. The last few times we ordered it To-Go, and it was disgusting. Usually they give you different parts of the chicken (various dark and white meat pieces), but the past 2 times they gave us super dry white meat and I couldn't even tell what part of the chicken it was. To be honest, it seemed like it was the left over dry white meat from previous days and it smelled like dog food. What's weird is that we have ordered this dish numerous time before, but it came out this way 2 out of the last 3 times. We can't see why the same dish would be so drastically different on a random basis. After that, we're scared to order To-Go and don't know what to expect about the food now. Cons: To-Go quality food more

I'm going back on Tuesday! 12/13/2006

There's a large salt water fish tank in here. My boyfriend is a fish hobbyist, so we just had to go. Boy were we glad we stopped by. The food was great and the best part was the Thai tea. You get a large glass of it, (twice the size as other restaurants) and it has crushed ice, which is the best kind of ice to have with Thai tea. Pros: Large Thai tea glass, Food, Away from busy side of Valley Cons: Not busy more

Best Thai food in Alhambra 9/17/2006

Best Thai food in Alhambra. Reasonable price. A bit slow on the service, especially during the weekend. For take out, make sure call 30 minutes in advance. Pros: Great tasting food Cons: Gets busy on the weekend more

Worst Wonton Soup Ever 8/13/2006

This restaurant is nearby my work, so I can't help but order out when I'm in the mood for Thai. They have one of the best red curries ever, but seriously the worst wonton soup I've ever had. I was thinking about taking it back, but I'm not that rude. This place is not the worst, but not the best either. Pros: curries Cons: thai coffee's and wonton soup more

Super Slow Service Saturday Night 4/1/2006

cDonalds decor. 3 servers, no hostess/cashier, probably only 3 cooks in the kitchen and maybe 1 busboy for the whole restaurant, and probably 50-60 customers, explains the super slow service. It took forever for the server to take our order, forever to bring our drinks, and eternity to bring our food, which we had to ask for. We got tom yum gai, chicken curry, papaya salad, crisp catfish, and pineapple fried rice (which came 10 minutes after everything else). Food is not that good either, not authentic Thai, its with Vietnamese flavors (President Thais authentic). It definitely wasnt worth the wait nor frustrations. The party of three next to us left before their food came because it took so long. Maybe its not like this all the time based on the other reviews, but for us, it was a sucky experience. $43 total, but most Asian restaurants are inexpensive anyway. more

Best deal in town 3/29/2006

The Green Papaya is ideal for lunch or dinner: excellent food, large portions and friendly service. They have an extensive menu and offer a variety of flavorful soups, fresh salads and exotic desserts. I highly recommend all of their soups, the papaya salad and their mango ice cream (you have to try their desserts)! Everything on The Green Papaya's menu (including their cocktails) is reasonable priced and perfect for people/couples who dine out frequently. It's a healthy alternative to fast food at comparable prices. Pros: Excellent Food, Exotic Menu, Inexpensive more

I would pass by this place after work everyday and decided to try it out. They have authentic Thai dishes at very reasonable prices. It's hard to find a good Thai place in Alhambra, but this place is now one of my favorites. The place is clean and the service is great. more

Thought I was in Bangkok 3/20/2006

This was the best Thai food I have had in a long time. Having traveled to Thailand many times and eating at several Thai restaurants in the Los Angeles area, this is one of the most authentic Thai restaurants I have been to. The service is excellent, and food is awesome. This is definitely a diamond in the rough considering that there are not many ""good"" Thai restaurants in the San Gabriel Valley. more

Awesome Thai Food 3/19/2006

I highly recommend Green Papaya. The food is not only extremely tasty, but its just like the food I had when I had vacationed in Thailand. For great authentic Thai food, I say Green Papaya is a great place to visit. more

Pad Thai for life... 3/19/2006

Sick of the same Asian cafes, Green Papaya is a welcomed change from the typical Chinese eateries found in the San Gabriel Valley area... Offering authentic tasting Thai food with an extensive menu that doesnt put a dent in your wallet, everyone visiting this restaurant will also enjoy the friendly staff that will make your dining experience even more pleasurable. Whether for a business lunch or a family dinner, Green Papaya was an excellent dining experience at a reasonable price. more
