They will lie to you and deceive you to get your business 4/27/2011

Their sales rep. Jason Beek came into my office to give me a bid. After looking things over he guaranteed me that this was a 7 hour move. He told me that he worked as a mover while in college and for sure this was a 7 hour bid, although he said he would charge me for 8 hours just in case. If the move was less than that I would not be charged the full amount of $880.50. \r \r The move did not take 7 hours. It took over 16 hours at a charge of $1944.00! They did a bait and switch on me. In addition, they destroyed my very expensive copy machine. They bent the frame and destroyed the motherboard. They put gouges in my furniture. The contract clearly stated they would wrap my copy machine, put it on an electronic cart and stabilize it. They were also supposed to remove my drawers and wrap them. None of the above happened. I had two witnesses with me to verify this fact. \r \r Michael Berman, the owner refused to pay for the replacement because he said I did not get extra insurance. I would not have needed extra insurance if they had not breached their contract. \r \r I found on another website a complaint about Great Plains. The man explained that he bought additional moving insurance from Great Plains. They destroyed his stuff and they found a reason not to honor his claim. This is a company with absolutely no honesty and not integrity. Do not trust anything they say.! more

Move went great 12/16/2010

My experience with Great Plains was the best of the moves I have made. 8 so far. My coordinator helped answer questions throughout the process, the packers, driver and his crew were professional and very careful with my furniture. When it arrived everything was in great shape and the unload crew again were courteous, professional, careful in our new home. They are my mover for life now. We are moving my mother this summer and I will have Great Plains move her also. They did a great job!! more

horrendously bad 6/19/2010

This company is crap. There’s an amiable salesperson and a friendly telephone receptionist. The ""back end"" is different. We paid for a full service move and they hired a crew that left large amounts of stuff floating loosely in drawers. The company doesn’t have its own employed and loyal drivers so it acts as a broker, contracting with inexpensive, independent truckers. The company used local help to load a temporary trailer because ""the driver was running behind schedule."" Thus, items were disastrously loaded and unloaded off trucks multiple times. On arrival, boxes were smashed, furniture was scratched. Items were missing. The driver then ""recalled"" that he'd seen a few of them back at the depot. Concerned that items would not otherwise be forthcoming, I made a 2.5 hour round trip to the depot where a few more damaged items were handed over. I’ve since discovered that many more items are missing. The process was disorganized, slipshod, detestable. DO NOT USE GREAT PLAINS! Pros: nice receptionist Cons: everything else more

dishonest 7/21/2008

Be very wary of this company. We were told that if we packed some of the boxes they would reduce the estimated charge at the end of the move. Unfortunately, at the end of the move, THEIR estimate turned out to be wrong and they therefore refused to discount the charge accordingly as promised. They should be ashamed of themselves and we highly recommend you avoid them. Moving is hard enough! Pros: nice people Cons: dishonest, unknowledgeable in mountain moves more
