I purchased a Regal boat with a Volvo Penta engine, which came with a 7 year warranty. They were fine during the sale. They recommended 2 Volvo certified mechanics to winterize and summerize my boat, on my property, as they did not offer this service when I bought it. My 4th season, during summerization, I found that I had low compression in one cylinder. I called Great Oak Marina, explained the situation, and said I wanted to have my boat hauled to them, for the Warranty repair. They first said they were very busy, to which I replied, so is every other marina, after all, it's the boating season. They said they didn't know when they would be able to get to it, and I replied, I'm not giving you a deadline. They asked why I wasn't using the person who summerized it, and I said I wasn't sure that their work, didn't create the problem. I said I wanted to bring it to the dealer where I bought it, and to please let me know what timeframe we might be looking at, if I did that. I received a call back, the next day, and they said they didn't want to work on the boat. I had the engine fixed under a Volvo approved warranty, by the mechanic who had been servicing it, but I'm appalled that the dealer who sold me the boat, Great oak Marina, would not even take it back to service a warranty problem. I would never buy another thing from Great Oak Marina, and I'm telling my story to anybody who will listen. These people should not be allowed to sell anything that has a warranty, if they are not willing to service it when a problem develops. It's truly pathetic.
