Great food,best pie 7/23/2011

started eating at Gray brothers after my grandmother past on,both my grand parents grew up in Morresville, and were laid to rest there. The first time i ate there it was great. I live on the other side of the state and have made road trips just for there pie. I have taken friends and family back many times. the food is always good. don't forget to bring home a whole pie, Maybe two of them. more

Great comfort food 3/15/2010

I can't imagine someone saying the food has no taste or seasoning. Apparently just bitter about something in life. The food here is the best if you want a cafeteria with the taste of a home-cooked meal. The pies are the best, as are the salads including cole slaw, bean salad, deviled eggs, etc. Entrees change daily but there is always roast beef, fried chicken. This is not a place for someone who wants crisp green beans and grilled boneless chicken breast. Pros: Excellent homestyle food, great pies Cons: Sometimes a long line more

best damn ribs on the planet 12/12/2009

the ribs are the reason we drive 38 miles one way to enjoy...they dont serve them everyday because of the price i assume..but coupled with a side of chicken and noodles and real mashed potatoes with white gravey.my wife and i have plenty to fill our taste..we will add some peach cobbler and take home for later....just like mom and granny..made..the fried chicken and skillet fried fish are excelent..also..i have NEVER had a bad meal at grays in the 30yrd Plus i've been going there..you want ribs ? check the menu on the web first.not available every day Pros: a+++++ more

Nothing But Good Food!! 8/8/2006

I love everything at Grays from there homemade chicken and noodles to the best and only real butterstoch pie. You have never eaten somewhere so wonderful. The wait may be long but you can always get it to go. I use to eat Grays at least once a week, I would always get my chicken and noodles, homemade mashed taters roll and my pie and go back to the office and enjoy the wonderful food without the crowd. Pros: I love it!! Cons: Dont be a hatter! more

The absolute best comfort food anywhere!! 4/17/2006

I grew up in Indiana and have since lived in California and now Wisconsin. In my trek across the country I have not come across anything like Gray Bros. Cafeteria. Every trip home is not complete without dinner at Gray's. This is grandmas cooking at its very best. If you have small children, they have high chairs on wheels that you wheel through the line and then an employee waits for you at the end of the line and carries all of your food for you. Definately family friendly. It is worth the trip! Pros: Great Value Cons: Nothing!!!!! more

There is no better anywhere 1/9/2006

I have been eating there for years and it only get better and better. Service is always great and food is outstanding. I grew up only a few miles from the resturant but unfortunatley no longer live in the area. All my relative still live in the area and I still come often to visit and go to Grays. I would not think of coming home to Indiana and not going to Grays. It is the best. Pros: Average priced, good parking, sometimes crowded more

BEST PIES IN AREA 7/11/2005

I am a former Indiana resident who looks forward to returning to Gray's everytime I am in the area. They have the best chicken livers, green beans and butterscotch pie you can find anywhere. They just happen to be some of my favorites. They are very reasonable priced for the portions you receive. more

A tradition 7/21/2004

Since being a child, I have frequented Gray Brothers. Locals all think of it fondly and travelrers come from miles around to stand in the long lines. Best to get there about a half hour from closing. The Oldsters have gone home and the line moves well. This is simply the best cafeteria I have ever encountered. Being in the military, I left Indiana behind years ago, but when I go back, I always stop at Gray's. Pros: Pies, Fried Chicken, freshness more

Cheap 4/5/2004

I don't know how anyone could say that this place is overpriced. 2 people can eat there easily for under $20.00 and the food is well worth it. As for people complaining about the long lines, that just goes to show how popular this place is. People drive from miles around just to eat here. If you don't like the food there is something wrong. It is wonderful. Pros: Great Food, Cheap, Great Pies Cons: , At, All more

Gray Brothers Cafeteria 12/18/2003

Gray Brothers, Cheap? No Way! It is a good cafeteria, but how in the world did it get into the cheap eats section? Pros: consistent quality Cons: overpriced more

A Noteworthy Tradition 9/1/2003

Anytime my family make the 15 hour drive to Indianapolis, no matter how short the stay, we always make time for Gray Brothers Cafeteria. I know of no-where else you can get wonderful home cooking at an extremely reasonable price! This has become a family tradition and one no one ever says, ""no"" to. I would have to say Gray Brothers is one of Indy's finest family eating establishments!!! Pros: Inexpensive, Always Fresh, Wonderful Pies Cons: Small wait in line more

Good Food 7/17/2003

Great food. Reasonable prices. Pies are great, Coconut Cream, Peanut Butter and Strawberry are the best. Try their new Bloomington location at SR 37 and 2nd Street. Pros: Good parking, Courteous Staff, Good Food Cons: Long Lines more

Poor Place to Eat 7/11/2003

This is school cafeteria food straight from the can. No seasoning, no imagination, not served eye-appealing, tasteless, something my 12 year old could pour out of a can or open a box at home and be better! Even the PIES are nothing to write home about. Anyone saying this establishment is good has NO TASTEBUDS. Give me something GRAND besides the PRICE. Pros: LONG LINES, TASTELESS FOOD, WAY TOO EXPENSIVE Cons: TASTELESS FOOD, UNCLEAN DINING AREA, NO QUALITY more

Worth waiting for!!!! 2/4/2003

Gray Bros. Cafeteria is a destination I plan within my travels. I set aside mealtime for this restaurant, even though it's a little off the beaten path for me as I travel from southern Indiana to Indianapolis and Chicago. Most always you'll see a line stretched outside the door but go ahead and pull in the parking lot. It'll be worth your wait (the line moves fast so don't be discouraged!) Prices are relatively inexpensive, servings are large, choices are bountiful and each item I've ever tasted melts in your mouth. Don't be on a diet, it's all good home cookin'! A must: the strawberry pie, the roast beef, the macaroni and cheese, the fried chicken but all is absolutely wonderful! Pros: Delicious food!, Inexpensive prices!, Laid-back atmosphere Cons: Crowded, Full parking lot, Small bathrooms more

yummy 1/2/2003

For those of you that love to choose your own plate, this is great! From meatloaf to ham, mac n cheese to coleslaw, or green beans to corn; they have it all! Great place to take your family wonderful atmosphere and great service! Always worth the drive to Mooresville! Pros: you pick food, good parking, great atmosphere Cons: busy on Sundays more

Drive A Little; Eat A Lot 12/8/2002

Great quantities; home cooking for the masses. The pies are to die for. Pros: Good Parking, Lines Move Fast, Average Age 75 Cons: No Chicken Fried Stea, No Chicken Fried Stea, Average Age 75 more

Indiana's Best 9/22/2002

This is worth the drive from Indianapolis to Mooresville some 20 miles. The very best of service, quality and display of food. Pros: Excellent Food, Large selection Cons: Lond lines, Approx: 30min.wait more
