The Granada 3/29/2006

The Granada has definitely made a large improvement from what it was when I first moved here. I feel very torn when it comes to the Granada-- I have seen some awesome shows here and I have seen some really horrible shows here. I do think that it really depends on the crowd and sometimes the Granada can bring in an awful crowd. I do tend to think that the tickets there are overpriced but the Granada is the biggest venue in Lawrence so they'll naturally bring in bigger bands. I usually really like the bartenders and the drinks, and the women's bathroom downstairs isn't so bad. Mainly the thing I dislike the most is that some of the door guys can be real jerks; I'm sure that having that job sucks but I've gotten a lot of attitude from this particular venue for no reason. more

Granada is ok 9/9/2005

I like the setup of the stage and dance floor in this place. I have seen some cool bands play here, although I think the tickets are over priced for the size of the theatre. The bar is overpriced. They rarely have good drink specials. I don't like that they charge to get in. I would much rather party at any other bar. The bathrooms are upstairs and are not very clean. more

Great Venue 8/6/2005

I love going to shows at the Granada. It's my favorite venue in town. I have seen The Get Up Kids, Murder By Death, Mae, JamisonParker, Motion City Soundtrack, and other bands that adults generally dislike. The bar serves great drinks and has good specials, and the bartenders are friendly even though they can barely hear you with their earplugs in. The bands seem to like their end of the venue too. The mixboard is huge and in the middle, which is kind of distracting but I like it. When people do moshpits, the floor gives way and sometimes feels like it's going to break which is pretty creepy. It's a great venue over all. more
