Goodies Barbecue Restaurant

As a Texan and a true afficionado of beef brisket., I am severely disappointed in Goodies. The ""Texas Beef Brisket"" sandwich that I had for lunch today was horrible. The meat was tough like leather and was not flavorful. If there hadn't been any sauce, the whole thing would have been inedible. Good brisket should not need sauce to hide the taste. It should also be close to falling apart, or at least a fork should be able to cut through it. I smoke my own brisket and know what it takes to make a good brisket. It must cook at 190F for at least two hours in order for the the collagen in the meat won't break down: otherwise; it will be leather-like as in this case. This meat was clearly cooked at too at a high enough temperature for long enough. It also looked days old. Freshly cooked brisket is juicy. This meat was dry hence the need for sauce. Goodie's uses charcoal to cook all of their meats. You don't get Texas style flavor from briquettes. You get flavor from wood. Pros: The fried okay is good. Easy parking. Cons: Don't order the brisket. more

For smoked ribs or rib tips, I haven't had any better. I've never been impressed with ribs smothered in sauce, which Goodie's doesn't. If you like great natural smoked ribs, Goodie's is on the top of my list. Pros: Clean, Lots of parking, fast service more

I have been eating at Goodie's every since it was in the building down the street on the other side of the street. It was quality when in before the name goes on, now it's just Goodie's. (Quality????) I haven't been there in awhile. Too many other places to choose from. Put the quality back in and we'll come back!
