I just returned from a emergency room visit with my daughter, who is suffering from an ear infection. I was treated horribly by a nurse who walked in to get patient information as my daughter's blood pressure was being taken. This nurse, named Tonya, was rude, confrontational and thought she could intimidate me, as she is very tall, overweight and obviously under the impression she can treat patients and their families however she likes and they will cower. All I did was pull a empty rolling chair over to where my daughter was so I could sit next to her, and Tonya unloaded unloaded on me, telling me to get out of her chair and no, I could not use the patient chair next to her desk, either. I was exhausted and asked her to excuse me, I was very tired (4:30 AM) and simply wanted to sit down. Once in the ER, I asked the lady who processed my insurance information if I could have a number to register a complaint. She said she would get the number for me and never returned. I then asked the nurse attending us for a number and she wrote it down for me immediately. This nurse in admitting will be reported for unprofessional behavior and I will not let it go with just a phone call. Something needs to be done about this. I refuse to be treated in such a rude and disrespectful manner by anyone! The nerve of some people! As I was leaving, Tonya made sure to be right there, standing behind the desk and giving me the nastiest look possible. I cannot believe a hospital would allow someone with such a nasty disposition and horrible people skills to come into contact with their patients. It was a very negative visit and I have frequented this hospital for years, never having to deal with any employees as nasty as this one was. Obviously, she has acted this way and gotten away with it before, as I couldn't imagine someone concerned with keeping their job would be so rude to anyone patronizing their business.
