Gold's Gym

This place is something else! They advertise $9.95 a month and then try and charge you $200 just to sign up. Then they charge like $300 for a trainer. So if you are looking for cheap this is not it. It's over $400 a year just to use this place and adding on $300 for trainer that's alot of money in today's economy. Not for me!!! more

I recieved a ""free"" trial offer for Gold's Gym back in the day...(about 2007 I believe), during my ""free trial sign up"" I signed several documents. Apparently one that had my bank info on it at which time they promptly charged me the $350 for the sign up fee. I did call the main office/hotline and they returned the funds to my bank account. \r Now, in 2011, I did actually go and sign up at the nice facility. It is no longer Gold's Gym, but the management is the same. While I felt the management was a little bit standoffish, I enjoy the spinning class and total body fitness class. I did get roped into the personal training sessions, which I wish I could have avoided. It was outragous, but its helpful, I guess. \r The front desk staff is always pleasant in the early morning, they are helpful and responsive. \r Some of the equipment is broken, and it takes a while to get it fixed. \r Overall, I'm satisfied with the gym. I enjoy going, I go almost everyday. Its pretty clean, the staff is helpful, the people who use the gym, are regulars and are nice and friendly. I enjoy going. more

This gym has no value of customer service, whatsoever. I honored an obligation of a year after having left the area only to be treated very badly by a day manager by the name of Marlene when I wanted an explanation for a ""gym maintenance fee"" I was charged two days after my final obligatory payment. She kept interrupting me about auto-renewal and it was impossible to get across what I needed explained. I expected to have been treated better after fulfilling an obligation and never even attempting to opt out. All Sparks and Spanish Springs, there is an Anytime Fitness right by the Raleys over there (which is where we used to live) and my husband had a very pleasant and customer-centered experience with them. Opt for that gym instead as it is not only less crowded and you can access it at any time, but the people actually care how they treat others. Cheers! more

I signed up in February and was supposed to be assigned a trainer. The trainer cancelled our first meeting and then no matter how many times i went in or called they would not call me back or there was never anyone ""available"" to meet with me. I gave up in April and went in again but this time I gave them a letter cancelling my membership. I was still billed again in May and my bank tried to call them but no one was availble to talk to them so the bank cancelled my account and had to reopen the account. I tried to call ABC Financial and they called Gold's Gym while I was on hold and no one would talk to them. I now have a letter from ABC Financial stating that I'm behind in my dues. I called ABC again and they tried talking to someone at Gold's again but no one was available. However, ABC says that I'm still responsible for the dues and it's going on my credit account until Gold's cancels my membership. I'm filing complaints against both Gold's Gym and ABC Financial. DO NOT GET HOOKED INTO THIS GYM. There are better ones out there! Cons: will not assign trainers or meet with members more
