Golden Mountain Restaurant

I sure hope Golden Mountain will be here to stay! We live locally and go here twice a week. Everything is just done correctly. The seafood is fresh. The soups are just right, not too salty. The owners of this restaurant are so amazing, and their food is too! After years of eating stir fries filled with celery and fillers, we were amazed to see how much meat they put in these dishes. We ordered the salt and pepper crab, which was soooo good. (Right out of the tank fresh!) The Kung Pao chicken was the best I'd had as far back as I can remember. The owner took my kids to the toy basket before we left, where each of them got to choose a toy. This is our new restaurant... I hope they'll be around for a long time to come. The food at Golden Mountain is consistantly fresh and tasty. You can take a look at the live fish and crab towards the back of the resturant -- they always look healthy). The food isn't overly greasy and you wont end up hungry again in a few hours, at least I dont. The portion sizes are generous; I can usually walk away with some leftovers for my next meal. I'm not a huge fan of shellfish, but the crab dishes are wonderful. They also have several varieties of sodas, beer and Sobe -- yes, Sobe! :) \r \r There are several small tables and a few large tables as well as a smaller banquet type room. i'd imagine you'd have to make reservations for larger parties (10+ people). There are two separate bathrooms for men/women. Parking isn't too bad -- there's a parking lot and street parking is available. \r \r It's pretty easy to find as well. its near the Mervyn's HQ (on the left hand side if you're heading to 580), right before Tommy's. Cant miss it, there's a huge sign in front.\r \r Overall -- great food, great variety, great prices. It's great for casual family gatherings. The Golden Mountain Restaurant was written up by the Pioneer, a publication serving the California State University, East Bay. Gladed we gave it a try. The taste of food was excellent. The meat and vegetable served were obviously of very good quality. Prices were more than reasonable. The fresh crab is a must try. The Hakka dishes of salt baked chicken, roasted pork and stuffed tofu were also very good. They also serve the best Chinese rice porridge (jook), felt like having Grandma's cooking. There are plenty of parking spaces in their own lot plus street parking. Give it a try. You will be glad you did. more
