DO NOT GO TO THlS DERMATOLOGlST OR ANYONE lN THlS ASSOClATlON!!! My husband and i both had issues with the doctors being dishonest. i had an abnormal mole removed there and they did a biopsy on it. The doctor had me come in for a follow up appointment and advised me that i would have to have surgery to have more tissue removed because they said there were more abnormal cells in that area on my skin. i asked if it was something that i had to have done because i was pregnant at the time and did not feel comfortable having a surgery done while i was pregnant and the doctor told me that this was something i needed to have done right away and it was a must to prevent any sort of cancer. After the procedure, i came in to get my stitches out and at that time i was told that there were no abnormal cells removed and they got all of abnormal cells when they originally removed the mole. i asked why i needed the surgery then and they said ""oh we just wanted to do it as a precaution""....THlS WAS NOT SOMETHlNG l NEEDED DONE!!! and they never told me that i didnt need it, that it was just an extra precaution...they said it was urgent that i had it done right away. l felt like they just lied to me and gave me false information so that they could make $$$ off of me. A few weeks later, i got my bills that totaled over $400.00. My husband also went to this office to have a growth on his leg looked at. They told him that this was just a non cancerous growth, similar to a skin tag and they could remove it if he wanted them to. He said that he would just let it go because he didn't want to pay anything outside of the co-payment...the doctor then said ""oh, there wouldnt be a bill or any charges other than your co-payment to have this removed"" and convinced him to just have it removed. Shortly after my surgery, he had 2 different bills sent to him...one bill to have the procedure and one bill for the biopsy that he didn't want to have done. i called to try to settle my husbands bill and all i got were more lies and they said my husband was told he would be billed and that they didnt have to complete a biopsy but that my husband requested it??? These doctors are liars and will make up lies just to get more money from you and from your insurance company!! Not only do my husband and i have hundreds of dollars in bills from them but i now have a large scar on my stomach that i will have to look at for the rest of my life from a surgery that i found out i didnt even need! lf you are looking for a dermatologist that is honest and looking out for your best interest, then DO NOT GO HERE!! P.S. During my follow up appt, i waited on an exam bed for over 45 min until the Dr. came in to see me...no exaggeration!!! i had to wait around 20-30 min on an exam bed during all of my other appointments more

Good doctors, staff leaves something to be desired 4/21/2008

I have been seeing the CRNP at Allegheny Dermatology Associates for a few months, every month or so, to have a keloid injected. The doctors, PA and the CRNP are good at what they do. They are professional and knowledgeable. They're the reason I keep going back, along with location. Monroevile is easier to get to than Oakland and parking is readily available. HOWEVER, it can be nearly impossible to get an appointment in a timely manner. I've had appointments canceled with only a day or two notice. That's been a real problem. Also, the reception staff is not the most polite or friendly desk staff I've ever dealt with. They tend to be abrupt, probably because they're busy, and not accommodating at all in making appointments. I continue to go back because I believe the doctors and practitioners are good at dermatology and have done their best to help me, but I will reconsider where I go if they cancel any more of my appointments. The office is located in an office building with other businesses, and usually when I go in there is a group of smokers outside the front door. Cigarette smoke gives me hives and I inevitably walk through a thick cloud of it to get inside. Guess it's good I'm going into a dermatologists office! I wish they would move the smokers. Pros: Doctors are professional and knowledgable, good location, lots of parking Cons: Staff can be terse, have had appointment canceled by the office, can be hard to get an appointment more
