Goddard School

My family has found The Goddard School in Gaithersburg to be a phenomenal school, so I wanted to take a moment to say thank you. The quality of care has been superb, and the school has such a warm, welcoming environment where our daughter, Nadia, has been thriving. I see a lot of happiness, laughter, and learning in the classrooms. Mr. and Mrs. Worley are very dedicated to the school. Nadia's teachers have all been fabulous--very nurturing to her, and she has grown quite attached to them. All the staff seems to know Nadia's name. She always comes home with reports of the things she has done throughout the day, and loves talking about them. She has brought home interesting art projects, from traditional paintings to gingerbread houses. I love how Goddard has special visitors and events, like pony rides. I also really appreciate how they incorporate yoga, Spanish, and gym into the school day. I would happily recommend Goddard to anyone looking for a loving place for their children. more

We have nothing but good things to say about the Goddard School. We enrolled our son in Pre-K and now he is in kindergarten - in both classes his teachers have been excellent. They have demonstrated professionalism, enthusiasm, and dedication to the children. Our son could not have gotten better teachers. While at Goddard our son's reading, writing, and mathematics skills have improved significantly. Our son is now reading at a high level compared to his age and has also progressed socially. Finally the owners (Mr and Mrs Worley) are excellent as well as the support staff. They are very helpful when we have questions and demonstrate the same committment to the children. In conclusion we are very pleased with the Goddard School. We can only hope our son will continue to receive such high quality care and education when he enters the public school system. more

My husband, Ed, and I can not praise the Goddard School in Gaithersburg enough for their wonderful care of our daughter. Our daughter was in the infant "Lady bug" classroom from the age of 12 weeks. As our first born, we were nervous about the transition going back to work, but we were immediately assured about our daughter's care when we met the staff. Jim and Jill, the owners, are extremely welcoming and friendly, as is everyone from the administrative staff to the teachers. The entire staff knew our daughter by name the first week we brought her to school. We found that the warm, loving, and stimulating environment was perfect for our daughter's development. Her teachers, Ms. Bringas and Ms. Bahal, were so loving and nurturing. It brought us such joy to see our daughter smiling and cuddling with them - we knew she was in such great care every day! Last fall my 3 year old twins began attending The Goddard School in Gaithersburg. Unsure of how they would adjust to their first-ever school experience and separation from mom and dad, I was pleasantly surprised and delighted at how little time it took for both of them to LOVE it at Goddard. The owners, staff, and teachers took such an interest in getting to know my children and in making them feel comfortable with their first school experience. They made all the difference for my children in their adjustment to school. \r \r The school has such a warm and nurturing environment that is felt from the moment you walk into the school. When the school first opened we enrolled our oldest son and were amazed at his transformation. He was excited to go to school on a daily basis and the teachers, and owners made it a great place to learn. We loved his Kindergarten teacher Ms. Kim because she really took an interest into getting to know each and every one of her students. In addition, she was always open to feedback or questions we had about the development of our son. BEST SCHOOL WE'VE EVER SEEN! Our son is graduating from the Kindergarten program at The Goddard School in Gaithersburg at the end of this summer. He will be going to 1st grade next year. At his graduation ceremony, I told the school's owner, Jim Worley, just how very pleased we've been with the school and I told him we'd like to write a referral for the school. Rather than doing a "paper referral" Mr. Worley suggested that I post my referral online. I've never done an online review before and it will be hard to write everything I want to say. Quite simply, we were at two other places prior to Goddard deserately looking for a quality environment for our child that would give us peace of mind. I realize this post is a year old, but in case anyone is researching, please know that Goddard in Gaithersburg is one of the best. The educational component starts at as early an age as you'd like, and the care is second to none. \r \r We held off moving my daughter from an in-home daycare to a school until she was 3 1/2, wanting to keep her in a home environment for as long as possible. For as much as I loved the family that cared for her, we should have moved her sooner. She wasn't being stretched enough by that age. She clearly had excess capacity at the end of the day, which was manifesting itself in behaviors that puzzled us. She was also shy in large, boisterous groups and we feared that she would never be comfortable going into unknown environments. \r \r Goddard changed all of that and put her squarely ahead of many of her peers. The Goddard School in Gaithersburg is an excellent pre-school and kindergarten. My daughter has been there for over three years and she loves it. They have an excellent curriculum of reading, writing, math, science, music, creative arts, and even activities such as sign language and yoga. She loves it there. And all the people are wonderful, especially the teachers, directors and owners. more

My child has been in the school for close to 2 years (since it opened). It is a WONDERFUL facility. I read the 3 previous reviews all posted the exact same day (5/7/09) and it doesn't even remotely sound like the same school my daughter attends. Here is what my experience has been. (1) This is VERY clearly a private preschool. This school has a GREAT curriculum, degreed teachers, a full time Director of Education who has a Masters degree in Education and two assistant directors who are also degreed and very capable people. My daughter is in the Pre-K program now and is reading at the 1st grade level. Truly, truly EXCELLENT academic environment. (2) The school looks and feels like elementary school. My child is sooo ready for Kindergarten that I have absolutely NO concern about how she is going to perform. That is the purpose of preschool.....to get ready for elementary school and Goddard did that for us! (3) The school is spotless. It is beautiful. The floors gleam, bathrooms are clean more
