Last night I had a delicious dinner at Gobo in the Village. The food was tasty and creative. We tried Vietnamese spring rolls, pan seared spinach dumplings, scallion pancakes, slow-cooked Malaysian curry, and eggplant stuffed with herbed tofu cheese. Although these choices are somewhat typical, all dishes were prepared very well. The pleasant ambience of the restaurant contributed to an enjoyable meal, except for a very loud couple who was sitting next to us. Because the tables were placed just a few inches apart, it was hard to hear my companion over the high volume conversation going on at the neighboring table. ? And then came a bill with two surprises. Apparently, the restaurant charges $3 for a side order of rice. We weren?t asked if we want rice with our dishes or not, it was just placed on the table. Also, the multi-layered chocolate cake was served with a scoop of ice cream, which we figured was a nice touch. However, that nice touch came at a price of an extra $1. Surprise! I recommend this restaurant for the quality of food and friendly staff, but beware of extra charges.
Pros: very good vegetaria food, friendly staff, pleasant ambience
Cons: hidden charges
