Most caring and compassionate veterinarian 9/4/2008

I had a problem with my cat several weeks ago.She had red urine and kept running in and out of the litter box. I took her to a local vet and they told me she had a urinary tract infection. They put her on antibiotics, but she was still in pain. I took her to Dr. Glasser. He suggested taking an x-ray. It turned out that she had bladder stones! After Dr. Glasser did the surgery to take out the stones, she is doing great! She has to ear a special food for the rest of her life to make sure the stones don't come back. I can't speak highly enough of Dr. Glasser and his staff. Pros: Cat is doing much better now Cons: No cons at all. more

Excellent Care 8/15/2008

I found a stray cat in my yard a couple of months ago that was in very bad shape. He was all bitten up by other cats and full of fleas and ear mites. I wanted to try and help him, but I did not have a lot of money. I took him to the Steinway Court Vet and Dr. Glasser told me that he was in a very bad condition. When he told me all that was wrong I thought I would have to put him to sleep. Dr. Glasser told me that there is a society called New York Save, that helps pets and people in need. To make a long story short, Dr. Glasser and New York Save financed all of his vet care and now I am in love with "Lucky" and the Steinway Court Vet! Pros: Helpful more

Great doctor, warm staff 7/19/2008

I was both a little surprised and expectant of some of the negative reviews posted regarding Dr. Glasser. I can only speak of my personal experiences with the Steinway Court Vet staff. They have been mostly positive. I can understand that someone who expects their vet to douse their pet with the same love and affection that they themselves provide will not find Dr. Glasser warm and fuzzy. However, he is efficient and effective. And to me, that is really more important. I have been bringing my cat to him for the past nearly 4 years as he came highly recommended from several people who came to him only after having bad experiences with other vets in the surrounding Queens vicinity. I don't expect him to get all lovey dovey with my cat, just as I don't expect my doctor to be that way with me either. Someone has to be the objective voice here. He has given my cat top quality care. Yes, he stresses dental cleaning but that is because animals, like humans, need to have healthy and clean teeth. Many diseases can initiate with poor oral care. I see it as preventive treatment. Is it expensive? Yes, it is. But his prices are comparable to other vets in the area. He has personally returned my phone calls within a few hours whenever I have called with a question. Moreso, his office has always accomodated me within 12 or so hours in emergencies. Dr. Glasser never seemed rushed when I brought my cat in. But he's efficient. He tells me what needs to be done, what he thinks the problem is and then if necessary, he phones me personally in case she needs extra treatment and quotes me a price before he administers it. Health care is expensive for us people and for our pets too. I dislike shelling 400-500 bucks every 6 months for wellness exams and dental cleanings but I want my cat to be healthy and be around for a long time. Otherwise, why have a pet if you can't care for him/her just like you would for yourself? I like Dr. Glasser and I think his staff is great too. more

Assisting those in need 4/10/2008

I was horrified to see the review written by aka ravenbirth-written Dec.07 Firstly, he was given an estimate with the total amount due of $1252.00 which he signed as well as a hospital form. We understood that he didn't have a lot of money. We first offered him and his friend an opportunity to apply for Care Credit, a subsidiary of GE which is a credit card that charges no interest for the first 6mths, allowing people to pay off there bill over time. Unfortunately, they were denied. As we knew money was tight we called NY Save. NY S.A.V.E, Inc., is a non-profit organization dedicated to the aid and assistance of low-income pet owners residing in one of the five boroughs of New York City, whose pet is in need of emergency veterinary care-please see their web site at www.nysave Upon leaving his pet with us he left a deposit of six hundred and forty dollars. That left him with a balance of seven hundred and twelve dollars and fifty cents. NY Save paid his balance, his pet --- went home after being treated. I guess when he initially left he was very upset by how sick his cat was. But?that is not excuse for what he wrote. Pros: Honest, caring more

best vet! caring, lovable and my puppy loves him! 9/21/2007

I recently bought a new puppy! As you all know a puppy from a pet store might not be that healthy. My puppy came with a few problems, but nothing that was not able to be taken care of by the right vet. I am thankfull enough to know a vet whom i have used throughout my life. My first dog who lived for seventeen years lived a very healthy and long life thanks from the help of Dr. Glasser. Thank God there are still people who really care about the health of animals and care about the owners of their pets. I have never felt more welcomed or sure about my vet and i highly recommend the love and proficient Doctor as Dr. Glasser. more

Please Beware 9/6/2007

Don't let the nice webpage and office fool you. My overall experience there was more than awful, I was only there once and will not be going back. It started with the smart attitude of the ladies at the desk....and continued to the appointment. Dr. Glasser seemed rushed and at times disinterested. It was expensive, the most I've ever paid for a vet visit. And above all my cat was injured while there. Once I got him home he was crying and limping and I noticed his back leg was crippled.....and had been perfectly fine before the visit. I took him back to the Vet.....recieved much more attitude from the frt desk and was told be Doc. Glasser that his leg was sprained. Neither him or his technicians quite knew how and assumed it was during his ex-ray. This was completely unexceptable. The treatment of me and my cat was atrocious and my cat remained ill even after the medicine was completed. I'm in the process now of finding another care provider. You've been warned, if you love your pet don't take it to this vet. Pros: good location Cons: all around bad place more

NO BETTER VET CARE ANYWHERE! 8/30/2007

Steinway Court Vet totally suprised me. My husband and I lived in Manhattan for years and we spent a lot of money on pet care at the "best of the best". When we moved to Queens we continued to bring our cats into Manhattan simply because we thought it had to be more state-of-the-art than what was available in our area. Eventually new neighbors moved in across the hall from us and they were also cat people. They started taking their cats to Dr. Glasser and recommended him to us. So we decided to try him out. He is an amazing vet. He truly loves the animals and to that end is very, very thorough in his examination and treatments. Yes, it can get expensive, but medical care is expensive - period. We don't find his prices to be unreasonable. He has his own lab on the premises and so you can get initial results quickly in an emergency situation. This enables him to start treatments immediately thus giving your pet better odds of a successful recovery. We had a much beloved cat who came down with kidney problems when he was 14. We had been through this before many times before and despite all the money we spent on high-end vet care, 6 to 8 months later we were always heartbroken when we lost our cat. But this time was very different. Our cat lived an entire two more years, happy, healthy and active right up until the last day. The treatments prescribed by Dr. Glasser were very comprehensive. Some people say he isn't respectful, but we never found that to be the case. Sometimes he can seem a bit abrupt and even rushed, but it's only because he's so absorbed in your pet - that's where he's focusing his attention. He gets to know each one of your pets individually and even develops his own relationship with them. His credentials and background are top notch. He's the BEST VET WE HAVE EVER HAD, and my husband and I have had many cats during our 23 years together. more

Avoid this place!! 8/3/2007

This veterinarian tried every test that he could come up with to find out my cat's illness and charged me tremendously. Later, I took my cat to another veterinarian, and all he had to find out was one simple test. I am not sure if Steinway Court a rip off or no idea what they are doing. Anyway, I don't recommend this place to anyone. more

Questionable validity 11/26/2005

The Staff and Veterinarian at Steinway Court Veterinarian is top notch. My experiences have been different than that of the previous post. If a Urinalysis doesn't show kidney failure it must have something to do with the lab analyzes the samples. Dr. Glasser has always taken great care of my pets and keeps them in great condition. They even saved my stray kitten from fatal distemper disease with a blood transfusion. They also took in animals saved from New Orleans, if that's not compassion and professionalism I don't know what is. Pros: professional Cons: busy, expensive more

Don't go there! 8/2/2005

I took my dog to this place and his condition went worse. They did the unalysis and all the tests, and coudn't find the kidney failure that my dog had. After my was out of the hospital, and I believed that he would be better.... but a few days later his condition got very bad and I took him to the other hospital and then I found out about the condition. They charged me a lot and my dog never gets better! I will NEVER NEVER NEVER take my pets to this place again. Cons: no love for animals, very expensive more
