RUDE is not even a word when it comes to David's assaults- I have been going to Ginstar for over 10 years taking his abuse, thinking that I got a good deal, so I was forgiving- they've put together several computers for me over the years- but most recently I've discovered that I've been ripped-off- brought in a PC with XP in March 2014, David had to know that MS was discontinuing XP April 8- I did not, but found out after he supposedly serviced and added a *new* motherboard and FAN, and the PC did not work properly, took it to a reputable guy who told me the parts David installed were 10 years old, he pulled the info off the internet, hooked up the PC and showed me the data- I was shocked! Ginstar's David charged me $ 182.49 for the *supposed* upgrade, the part cost $ 27.99 per internet- I am a senior citizen and cannot afford to pay $ 182 for something 10 years old and the operating system not be available\r I will dispute this with my bank and report to BBB as well as the Governors Office- David is a turd, he motioned to unzip his fly making suggestions...I could NOT believe this! GINSTAR in Marietta is a place to stay away from- he's KOREAN, does that tell you anyhting? more

Please do yourself a favor and DON'T grace the doors of this location, extremely rude and high and mighty attitude, I own and operate a home based business focused primarily on repair and resale of laptop computers and have 30 years computer expertise I spoke with the Atlanta location for a laptop screen and they stated their location had it in stock for 48.40, I then questioned the Marietta location about honoring the same price as they are affiliated and was rudely hung up on. more

Outrageous bad customer service & nasty too! Bought a used laptop @ $140 for a spare. As soon as I got it home, the wifi stopped working. I returned it, they ""fixed"" it and I took it home. Within a week the USB ports fried! I returned it again now a week a 1/2 later and they refused to refund the full amount. Charged me a 25% RESTOCKING FEE! STAY AWAY, UNLESS YOU ENJOY INFERIOR PRODUCTS, ARROGANT RUDE EMPLOYEES, AND BEING JUST PLAIN RIPPED OFF! more

HORRIBLE customer service 5/11/2012

I took my laptop to Ginstar for a hard drive upgrade. They worked quickly- I'll give them that- my laptop was ready to be picked up within two hours after I'd dropped it off. HOWEVER, when I got home and turned it on, I received an error message, telling me that the laptop no longer recognized my battery. When I took my laptop back to Ginstar to have them trouble shoot the problem, the Tech Guy lied to my face, and told me that the battery (which was brand new, BTW) was dead, and that my problem had nothing to do with their work. more

RUDE NO CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS 3/20/2012

I recently went to Ginstar located at 270 Cobb Pkwy in Marietta. The guy at the front is always rude and despicable. This has been my third visit at this location. The second and final visits were atrocious. On my final visit I had to bring my laptop back because I was experiencing the same problem that I that I had when I brought it in for the first time within 2 days of being repaired here. When I picked up the laptop, there were two people ahead of me and this guy just stops abruptly and hands me my laptop and walks away not saying a word. I then asked nicely ""What did you do that was different from the last visit?"" He then replied-- (but not before cutting me off before I could finish the sentence) "" Its working fine"". I reminded him that he told me when I picked it up the 1st time that it was working fine and that I didn't want to keep making a trip to get my laptop repaired for the same thing. He then replies, ""You don't have to"", and even suggested that I buy a new one if it happens again. This laptop is fairly new and I asked him, ""Why would I want to buy a new laptop""? I paid him for a service that has not been corrected. He continued to cut off my conversation and being rude in front of his customers. When I told him that I didn't like his customer service--he replied back to me ""And I don't like you either"". The lady that worked in the back who does the repair work thought his comment was funny and was laughing. I will not ever go back to these people again and will have to suck up the expense of not getting my laptop issue resolved. I would not even trust these people to do anything further to my computer with their mindsets and unprofessionalism. NEVER will I do Business with these people AGAIN!!!!! more

Great Service 2/25/2012

They get the job done.Whether my or my sons computer. No playing around with people who have no clue like the big box stores. I was recommended to the store by someone I have known for years. Last week, I brought my sons computer in thinking it was the hard drive. They quickly diagnosed it was a motherboard. No playing around. It was finished in 2 hours. We did not even get a chance to get back home from errands before they called. Good people, good service, good prices. What more do you want. more

What a RUDE Awakening!!! 12/30/2010

A good friend recommended Ginstar to me because I was having problems with both of my labtops. Because this was reliable friend I took his advice. On my first visit which was in September of this year one of my computers needed some serious work, however my other computer only needed a charger. Several days later I picked up bother labtops. As of today I have had no problems out of one of the labtops, but in two months my charger died. I tried to call the store, no one answered, I went by and the store was closed. I understand there is a 90 day warrant on new parts. On my 98th day I was finally able to go into the store, my spouse was with me. My spouse and I tried to explain to the owner, he was VERY RUDE to me and my spouse and in front of other customers and some were young . And on one occassion I told him he did not have to raise his voice. Again, I understand the warranty. We were not asking for our money back, we were willing to pay over half price for a new charger. This man did not want to hear any thing we had to say. My question is: Is this the type of behavior we want in our community and especially our young adults to be a part of? more

Ginstar Computers 11/30/2010

I am a native Atlantan and the Varsity call style of: 'What will you have?' Is terse but gets the job done. Have your money in hand and order in mind? Ginstar does the same thing Asian style. With a line of customers out the door the owner and 'wife?' do a good job of keeping the line moving. So the claim that it was broke when I bought it just holds up the process. So now you void the warranty if you remove the fan from the motherboard which was tested before you purchased it. Yes I was there during the I bought it broke customer. The owner assumes you have the technical expertise to install what you purchase? Computer classes are available at Chattahoochee Tech if you need instructions. I have frequented Ginstar Computers for several years and receive the service I need even to honoring product warranty. more

Trolls are not just on the internet... 6/8/2010

I wholeheartedly agree with the other reviews regarding the astounding rudeness, manipulative tactics, mind-boggling arrogance, schoolboy sarcasm, and downright inappropriate and embarrassingly sophomoric customer service coming from the main salesman/store owner. I came in one afternoon looking for a new computer to replace my old one that died. I asked if he carried any towers with Windows XP, and he said yes. I asked if he could transfer my old data to the new tower. He said yes, for $40 dollars. I had no money on me, so I went home, got my money, then returned with my old tower which stored all my data. I was told to call back that evening to see if it was ready; instead, I stopped by the store since I was in the neighborhood. The owner was not there, but another sales lady was. She noticed my computer was not ready to pick up, and after she spoke with the owner on the phone, she informs me that my data cannot be transferred from my Gateway to the new IBM after all. ""?"" However, she showed me a device they had for sale which would extract the data from my hard drive to a new computer which I wanted them to do for me since I would be clueless doing it myself. I tried out a laptop they had for sale to replace my computer. I liked it, but I wanted to add up my finances at home to see if I could afford all of this. I told her I would return the next day to give her my decision and to not do any data transfer of any kind until then. The next day, I come in, and the owner said my new computer data transfer to the new tower wasn't ready yet. Huh? But the sales lady last night told me the transfer couldn't be done which prompted me to consider their laptop instead! He pretended not to hear that, and instead, became very short with me. He complained furiously that they have been transferring my data for the past four hours, then he waves the work order in front of my face to prove that this is what I wanted done (to legally cover himself on paper even though they lied to me.) I told him that I no longer wanted a tower since I was told it couldn't be done, and that my plans had changed. When I told him I had made other plans, he made snippy, sarcastic remarks, dramatically acting offended and frustrated: ""We have been working on this for four hours! Do you not want your data?!"" That is not the point. Why was I lied to? Why was I told this could not be done? Can my data be transferred to a flash drive instead? He would not answer directly, but could only react sarcastically, ""well if you don't want your data..."" At that point, I walked out of there without looking back, never to see my computer data again. Hundreds of pictures, hundreds of itunes songs, all gone. If that's the best way I can be treated as a customer, then they don't even deserve a lowly penny from my pocket. I am now free from such customer abuse, from such lies, insults, and folly, and I warn others to be wary of what they might encounter should they set foot inside Ginstar of Marietta. As for the owner, he will reap what he sows. *Aside: The cheap deals at Ginstar should have nothing to do with how a customer is treated. I can even go to Dollar Tree and get treated with far more respect. Pros: I'm done with that place Cons: I didn't read the reviews first more

The right place for getting computer help 11/10/2009

I have known and dealed with these folks and the other Ginstar locations people for over 10 years. They have always been fair and honest with me and more often than not, have given me the best advice about a particular item or technology than any other dealer. All of them do an outstanding job of dealing with people. Sometimes even long past the point where I would have lost my temper. They offer hardware in a variety of conditions in order to help people get the most bang for their buck within a level of risk that they can accept. I have never known them to try to misrepresent anything that they sell or be less than truthful about the level of support that they offer for any item that they sell. If they say that it's new in the box, then it is new in the box. If it's off lease, refurbished, or whatever, then they tell you that and what level of support or warranty they offer for the item. You know...people skills and salesmanship skills are ranked pretty high at most of the chains. And those skills are somewhat important, but I can't see myself dealing with someone who does not have a love or very deep interest in what they are selling. So if I'm faced with a choice of dealing computer hardware with David or any other person at any Ginstar location or dealing with some ""couldn't get a social services job right out of college"" and selling widgets at Bestbuy Pros: Honest and has the best technical skills more

Gets the job done!! 6/23/2008

I have had numerous dealings with Ginstar(Marietta). While I too, have experienced a less than perfect hospitality in my visits, I have always gotten the right part, configuration or resolution to my problem. Always at a fair price, sometimes a really good deal. I am very experienced in this field and in customer service. I have mentioned my concerns to Owner and staff about being a little more appeasing to the customers and they realize they can get better in that area.( As long as they don't sacrifice their accuracy of assessment and technical knowledge, I would love to see it). Pros: parking, convenience, efficiency Cons: no refreshment center more

heard the same 4/9/2008

I have heard much of the same. Try going to Everything Computers Plus in Smyrna on S. Cobb Dr. much nicer people more

AVOID at all costs!!!!! 3/31/2008

Ginstar Computers is the most unfriendly business Ive dealt with. Its a small, cluttered, messy , unappealing store. The man who owns the shop is extremely unfriendly and has no sense of customer service. Ive been a customer with Ginstar for a couple of years because they do have some good deals. For this reason,Ive put up with his attitude as well as all of the other faults described above.I wish I hadnt. He doesnt deserve my business,or anyone elses for that matter. Hes worked on my computer before so he knows my PCs' specs.I decide I'm going to sell my whole tower and upgrade to a better PC.I give him a call to ask if he would be interested in my tower plus some other items that I didn't need anymore. He said he would look at it but wouldn't give price quotes over the phone. I wasn't asking for a price quote and I understand he wants to see its CURRENT condition, even though he had just worked on it. No problem. We hang up.Then,I remember that Im selling a couple of other things and not just the tower so I call back. For instance,I had a motherboard I was selling and I wanted to know if he just buys whole systems or parts also.He keeps repeating ""FACE to FACE"",in a very rude tone. Again,I didnt want a price quote, I just wanted to know what he WASNT buying at the time. So I unhook my system and drive 20 min to his shop. When I get there,he lets me unload it and bring it into his shop before telling me""You call too much and you annoying"" with a smug smirk. He said he WAS interested in the tower, but because I'm so ""annoying"" it isnt worth it to do business with me anymore. He did this in front of many customers.I apologized repeatedly so I wouldn't have to load everything back up and waste more gas taking it home. He continued his rude behavior and said ""No,sorry, you too annoying"".As angry as I was I reloaded my items and went home. The man is completely unprofessional and just rude.If you read this article PLEASE dont spend money at this smug, mean, offensive mans' shop. more
