Dr. Wilmeth used to be our regular veterinarian when he was still located here in Chaparral, NM. He was always willing to take a moment to explain if we didn't understand, always willing to go the extra mile after hours, and several years later, and a couple hundred miles away, he still takes my calls when I need his help. I've seen him brokenhearted when he couldn't save an injured colt, perform delicate, almost cosmetic, surgery on a mare's disfigured ear, amputate a dog's crushed leg so cleanly and neatly it looked as though it had never been there, always with compassion and good humor. I could go on and on. We understood when he had the chance to take over a solid practice in a lovely place like Silver City, but we sure do miss him! more

Find care elsewhere. We brought in a beautiful perfectly healthy puppy for its first shots and 3 hours later, she was dead. Broke my daughter?s heart and the family as well, because she had the best personality of any dog. I called the vet and got the uneducated silver city reject on the front counter who could not have been any more rude or uncaring. She claimed that it was impossible that the vaccines had anything to do with the death of the puppy. Instead of letting me talk to the vet, she gives me her stupid opinion. The vet called back and said it was anaphylactic shock from the vaccines. Do you think he even offered to refund us the cost of the visit? No! Take your pets elsewhere. more

I have been going to Gila Animal Clinic since we moved to the area 6 years ago. I have had excellent service and outstanding care from Dr. Wilmeth and his staff. When the wildfire got close to our house last year, they took in my dog and cat no charge while we were evacuated for a couple days. My pets don't fear the vet going here and there is a high level of respect and care for my animals. more

I have used Gila Animal Clinic for 12 years. Twice for emergencies.\r On both occasions it was after hours and the vet was at the clinic before I was. The second time he saved a pup that had eaten snail poison. I have only the highest praise for Dr.Wilmeth and his staff. more

I have been using this Vet service for years, but no longer. I have paid high fees to this Vet than compared to other Vets in the area out of loyalty. Toady I ordered some meds through 1800petmeds because I could buy the meds for 1/3 the price charged by this Vet. The Vet had to write the presciption but not unless I paid $8.00 for the written prescrition. NM law states that the vet can not force you to buy form thier business but this vet tries to charge so you don't get the savings you were looking for. My pet has been with this vet for 8 years. I now go to Town and Country Vet and they don't charge to write a presciption for pets they care for. My pet is now one they will care for and I will get my savings for my pets meds.\r \r What Gila Animal Clinic wants is commonly know as coersion. (Small town mentality) PROS: Quality service CONS: Overcharges and carges for services others will give for free. more
