He didn't do the work I paid for! 10/12/2011

I brought in an clarinet for a complete repad. His website said it will have a playing condition as well as all new pads and all new corks. I should've looked at it before picking it up but his shop is in his house and I felt pressured to not hang around. I took it out after I got home and some of the pads looked used, none of the key corks or tenon corks were replaced and the keys weren't polished. I called him and he was extremely rude and he argued with me saying that it had a repad. I chose not to take it back there and I'll just pursue it through the courts. I decided to take it to an actual repair shop with an experienced technician. more

 •
Get It Fixed!!! Band Instrument Repair is a full-service repair shop capable of handling everything from minor adjustments to major overhauls. We are highly skilled technicians proficient with all brass and woodwind instruments, routinely performing repairs on everything from piccolos to tubas. Brass Services Easily accessible dents are removed.

The instrument is disassembled and cleaned internally and externally using a non-harmful but effective solution followed by thorough brushing, inside and out. All water key corks and valve felts are replaced as necessary. The instrument is lubricated and reassembled - tuning and hand slides fit and aligned as necessary. Mouthpiece is cleaned and polished. Instrument is play tested and wiped off. Excessive dents or stuck slides are additional. Internal cleans do not include polishing of silver plating or raw brass. Typical turnaround time for play conditions is 2 to 4 days plus approval time if necessary. Play condition does not include the removal of extreme and/or large dents.

The correction of stuck slides is not included in play conditioning and is an additional service. Woodwind Services Play Conditioning: Every pad will be checked for leakage, any missing key corks or felt silencers will be replaced, spring tension will be checked, bent screws and rods will also be replaced. The tenon joints will be checked for tightness. Any keys that are bent will be straightened.

All key mechanisms will be oiled and every key will be adjusted, leveled and regulated. Your instrument will then be completed by play testing. If less than half of the pads need to be replaced, your instrument can usually be put into good playing condition. If more than half of the pads need to be replaced, it's more cost-efficient and your instrument will play better if it is completely re-padded or mechanically overhauled. Typical turnaround time for play conditioning is 2 to 4 days plus approval time if necessary.

Complete Re-pad: This service will include the above Play conditioning as well as the replacement of ALL of the pads and corks. The typical turnaround time for a complete re-pad is 4 to 7 days. Complete Overhaul: Same as complete rapid except all key corks and springs are replaced and keys and body are buffed and/or polished.

Your instrument will look almost new and will play as good as or better than new. Typical turnaround time is 7 to 9 days.
.
