I think every one of these reviews was written by the shop. I got ripped off, upsold, work performed I didn't ask for, and had to have the car towed back after it didn't even make it home from this shop after having work done. They finally admitted not knowing how to work on carbs. Expensive learning experience. Better off learning how to do the work yourself which is what I do from now on. more

I have taken both my car and my truck to German Autowerks for major repairs and minor maintenance. I always leave happy with the work, the price and it's always finished on time. I like being able to feel like I am getting a good deal and not getting ripped off. And as I have a 20 y/o Jetta, other shops don't give me a feeling of confidence. I will continue to go to G. A for excellent service and I suggest you do too! more

I went to german Autowerks , after hearing about them from a friend at a soccer game. we were fed up with the inflated price of our local dealership. I had a 20 k maintenance performed on my 2007 volkswagen beetle convertible I saved about a 100 dollars , and had all of my questions answered.I am very impressed with the appearance of the repair shop. I will be back . thanks for your personal approach to dealing with my concerns. more

Good: + Always answers the phone, huge for someone like me who has dealt with people who are never there to help + Has all of the proper tools to do the necessary job and contacts in the area to get almost any part imaginable + Most importantly, has the knowledge to fix it, especially for Air-Cooled VW's. No hard sells for parts or service you may not need. + Was more than fair with me on price for work + Made great recommendations on parts, books to read and tricks of the trade. Bad: - I don't live in Columbus, so he can't be my full-time mechanic. Improvements: I just wish there were more auto mechanics like John out there. Thanks again, if you ever read this!. Other: John may look young, but from talking to him for a bit, I learned he has owned over a half-dozen Air-Cooled VW's. He took three hours to teach me about how to do my own work on it and at the same time fixed anything that was out of place. Best of all, I broke down in Alabama, gave him a call and he was able to talk me through a solution over the phone. Does your mechanic take auto emergency calls? He fixes cars and in his free time he works on his own VW bug as a hobby, a clear sign he loves his work. more

If you're looking for a great mechanic, and don't want to pay dealership costs, then I highly recommend taking your German car here for service. John knows these cars like the back of his hand. He's very fair on price, honest and up front with you. Unbelieveable service! Give him a call, you'll be glad you did. more

I found the ad for this shop on craigslist , and called them about my waterpump. I asked for a price over the phone before calling the dealership. they were 400 dollars cheaper than byers. and had my car back the next day. I would recommend them and will bring my car in again thanks guys more

top Quality service , full line of german made parts quality service , complete repair shop same service as the dealership at a fraction of the cost the owner is easy to deal with , he handles all the customers personally , he knows these cars inside and out.
