tried sonnys one day then went here. the meat was good, but the bbq sauce was colored water Pros: sorry, no pros Cons: bad BBQ sauce,poor service

BBQ pork sandwich lunch special had a lot of fat. Coleslaw was amazing and I don't like coleslaw either. Fries were really crispy too (I love that). Super nice staff including a history lesson of the place. Next time it'll be sliced pork for me. more

I read about this place in 2 different national magazines. It was voted # 2 and # 3 respectively. I decided to try it and I was not disappointed. The pork sandwich which I piled high with their homemade coleslaw was to die for. I was lucky enough to be there on a Friday and the special was fried chicken. mmmmmmmmm.....the thought of it brings back mouthwatering memories. It was better than my mothers and better than my grandmothers, it was simply the best I have ever dropped on my lucky tongue......the thought of it still lingers.... Everyone should visit once. You won't be sorry you did. I don't know where the 1st in the nation is but, I'm glad Georia Pig is here! more

All prime cuts of meat and cooked over old Florida oak! The outside Pork Plate is to die for! Homemade chicken soup will heal any malady and the deserts are right out of moms kitchen. Don't miss this real Old Florida relic! 40 years ago it was in the middle of nowhere and today it's the place for Bar-B-Q! Chicken, Beef or Pork just ask Dan the pit master to make it special and he will! more

Wow, it's still THE best BBQ pork in South Florida, HANDS DOWN. oh, and bring cash, the invention of the credit card hasn't reached that part of town yet, apparently....but don't change a thing!!! I first ate at The Pig in the 60's when I was going to Nova High School. Was a great place then and has changed little through the last 40 years. Best thing is the pork sandwich. Not my kinf od Brunswick stew. The dessets are very goood and all home made. I love the cherry pie. One of the better things here that few know about is the breakfast. Very nice staff. Easy parking in back. Bring cash, no credit cards. Somehow that is part of the charm and it is almost impossible to spend $15 on yourself. A sandwich meal is only $6.95. more

Worst BBQ sauce! Got really excited when we pulled up thought it was authentic but we were sadly mistaken. They don't even have beans unless you come on a Saturday! To top it off waitress was not that good..we never even got knives! more

I AM STARTING TO THINK INSIDE FORT LAUDERDALE BLOGGER READS MY MIND THEN STATES THE OPPOSITE. THEY LIKE EVERYTHING I DON'T AND THAT GOES FOR MOST REVIEWERS- READ THEIR POST THEN READ EVERYONE ELSE! DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY ARE EATING, BUT IT IS ODD! This food is as inexpensive and good as it comes! A sandwich combo with a ton of meat, fries, coleslaw is $6. This is expensive??? The sauce you could drink with a straw and the place is packed everyday! it is delish- so go for yourself and see what all the fuss is about. Only down side is cash only. more

I grew up in a Southern family, and trust me, this is BBQ at its finest!!!!!!!!! Price was reasonable, and everyone working there was polite with me.....I will go back again definitely! Went for lunch and ordered half chicken meal. My drink had a dead fly in it, probably from the ice. Chicken portion was huge, big meaty pieces, but not a lot of flavor. Bbq sauce has a lot of vinegar, not to my taste. I won't be returning. more

In a part of town that you're not likely to be in on purpose, georgia pig is more a southern kitchen than a BBQ. The BBQ is vinegary and not for me; there are better places where you don't have to risk your life to get there. more

We come to Ft Lauderdale 3-4 times a yr and never miss at least one stop at the Ga Pig. Get there by 11:45 if you don't want to wait! That alone should tell you something. more

The food is good and the prices were reasonable. We tried the sliced beef platter ($10) and the rib and sliced pork Combo platter ($11). We topped it off with the cherry pie with whipped cream which was great. . We received our food quickly and our server was very friendly. The decor is a throw back to the fifties and could use an update. They're located just south of davie blvd on the west side of 441- google maps sends you south. Good mom and pop place. more

Being a native of Broward County, I'm sad to say that I have never been here before. This restaurant is old Florida at it's best. A one room with a counter, terrazzo floor joint that hasn't be remodeled in decades. The old southern charm comes out when you meet the wait staff. Just very pleasent and friendly. \r \r I had the sliced pork platter with fries and slaw. It was good BBQ. I am more of a red sauce guy and they serve their Q with a mustard base sauce. Not really used to that but again this was my first time there. The meat was nice and smokey and the sides were good too. \r \r My favorite was the banana pudding. This was homemade goodness. Noting fancy here, but man do I love these favors. Fresh bananas in a pudding with vanilla wafer cookies topped with whipped cream. Good stuff here.\r \r Remember to tell them Dan sent you for the fat free (yeah right lol) banana pudding and Stay Hungry! more
