After hearing great things, left disapointed 1/31/2010

I hope someone has told vadver by now that 10% is not an acceptable gratuity in this country. Generally 15% is expected if the service was adequate, and 18- 20 % if the service was exceptional. I hope he has corrected his tipping policy. That being said, I am giving Geoffrey's a 2 star review. Went there with a friend for brunch at the bar, the bartender was less than attentive, seeming to pay attention only to people she knew well. The place does have a pretentious clique-ish feel and the food was mediocre. not sure what dinner is like but probably won't go back to find out. Pros: nice decor and natural light Cons: service more

Ecletic, Experimental, Enjoyable Eatery 7/23/2009

The secret is out: the same Geoffrey's that I frequented years ago in Back Bay has been reincarnated in Roslindale Square. Pros: Accomodating GM and Bartenders, Really Good Food & Prices! Cons: It has been discovered by ""outsiders"" more

Great place, NOT a Family Restaurant 7/22/2009

Friendly, casual place to dine or have drinks with friends. The staff is friendly when not overwhelmed by a crowd. Can be noisy when the windows are not open in the warm weather. Food is very good - the desserts are awesome, both in size and flavor. Pros: Great menu. Very good dinner salads. Outdoor seating Cons: Same menu for the past two years-get some new entrees guys! more

good food, good service 12/16/2008

What a cheap guy. Stay home!! I've had great food and great service at Geoffrey's. This is a nice neighborhood cafe. We left a 20% tip. more

Bad Service 11/3/2008

The food was good, but the behavior of one of the waiters left us feel appalled. Pros: Food Cons: Service more

It is what it is.... 8/10/2008

I don't understand how someone can give a restaurant a bad rating simply because a high chair was not available. I don't mean to be offensive, but at what point did the world start catering to people with babies? That's another story though, now about Geoffrey's. It is what it is, no pretense. The bar/lounge area is full of local regulars. If you want a bit more intimacy, there is a cozy dinning room with comfy booth seating. The patio is fun, with a great flower garden at the entrance. The food is simple comfort food served on white plates. It's inexpensive, good sized portions, something for everyone. This place has interesting decor, a pleasant and helpful staff, and for those coming from Boston....they have parking! I make the trip from South End at least once a month and will continue to do so. Pros: Amazing brunch on the weekend. Cons: The place has become so popular, its hard to get a seat at the bar. more

Wouldn't bother if you have children... 8/1/2008

This restaurant seemed very promising - my first visit, the food was good, and the patio is great in the summer. However, I've been back 3 subsequent times, and have been turned away because they only have one high chair for the whole restaurant, so they couldn't accommodate my 1-year old daughter. more

Consistent Perfection in the Ahi Salad... 4/9/2008

With every restaurant and bar serving an Ahi appetizer, it's hard to find a place that stands out for their value and quality of ingredients. Geoffrey's Ahi came thickly encrusted with toasted sesame seeds. The cut of tuna was of steak quality, not fillet, and was as fresh as it gets. It was served seared on the outside and ever so rare on the inside over a bed of baby greens and accompanied with the ever important generous mound of wasabi. A delectable oil (possibly walnut?), a slight tinge of soy, and a rich reduction of balsamic, drizzled over the top, were the crowning touches. I've tried this four times now on various nights of the week with each serving as excellent as the first. Cons: It is cold by the doors in the winter. more
