I really enjoyed Gennaro's the last time I came, and I was wandering around the area so decided to come back. I got the special pasta dish of the day - seafood with spaghetti. The flavor was good and the spaghetti was cooked al dente. I wasn't impressed with the seafood though. The shrimp was overcooked and the fish and mussels were also slightly overcooked. The calamari had good texture. more

It was great.. 4/10/2012

It was great to see more and more people are returning to this wonderful restaurant,, With some familiar and talented faces in the kitchen and the dining room led bu the committed interest of a new owner. Gennaro's is well on its way yo regaining the level of a dining experience that made it ""THE"" place to be. Good Italian food and excellent fish options. well prepared, make it for a great dinner. more

Terrible service! And from the new owner!!! 2/14/2012

My husband and I have been here several times before and the food is good. We decided to go there tonight for a Valentine's dinner because it's nice and we also had a restaurantcom certificate to boot. However, they wouldn't honor the certificate because they had a 'special' menu. After paying, we spoke with the manager/owner. Apparently, he is a new owner--escrow just closed three days ago--and he's changed things. His 'special' menu was discounted, which is why he couldn't take the certificate Really?! At $30 for red snapper that's discounted? That was regular price before. The only thing he would do for us was to honor that certificate within 30 days. He says he won't be honoring the certificates. But he doesn't even bother to contact restaurantcom to let them know. His service is pathetic. We will not be going there again unless there's a new owner. We'll wait until the place is sold again and hope to get someone with better customer service since he doesn't care about retaining old customers. more

good luck 2/4/2012

This is by far the best Italian dining experience in Glendale. My girlfriend has been several times, but we ate there this past week for my first time and I was more than impressed! The ambiance of Gennaro's takes you back to a restaurant setting that belongs in Goodfellows... low light, cozy, family-style Italian-white-tablecloth seating and decor abound. The place buzzes with the murmur of casual conversation, mixed with animated banter and the satisfied sounds of satiated customers. We started off with the Fresh Melon & Prosciutto Di Parma, which is a unique and delicious appetizer of three freshly cut cantaloupe melons, draped in warm prosciutto... delicious! We shared the special of the day, which was a Chilean Sea Bass and also shared the Fettucine Verde, Calinga. Both were cooked to perfection, and the alfredo sauce (appropriately so) was the best I have ever had. Oh, how could I forget to mention the buttery garlic toast, which although it is supposed to be brought out first, was forgotten until our entrees arrived. This may sound like a mistake, but I was grateful, because the temptation to fill up on this delicious bread might have been to great to fully enjoy the rest of the meal. Overall a must-experience for anyone living in or visiting the Glendale area. 5-stars was an easy rating to assign to this fantastic establishment! Good luck to the new owners! Keep it on! more

Great food 2/3/2012

Speechless. I went here for my cousin's baby shower, so the whole restaurant was rented out to us. We had traditional family style food and service. I will start off by saying the service was extremely attentive, and the food was absolutely amazing (this is coming from an Italian that is VERY picky). We had Chicken, Veal,Salad, Calamari, Antipasto, list goes on and on. I honestly don't have anything negative to write about this place. It is good, authentic Italian food with a great atmosphere. Great for private parties!!!! more

Great Italian 2/1/2012

he family had a dinner here last Sunday. There were ten of us, including two kids and a birthday celebration and the staff handled and accomodated us perfectly. Parking was easy, there was no wait, and the staff immediately took care of our drinks and orders. The table relish was a carrot/olive/celery/garlic salad that was tasty alongside the fresh bread. We ordered the bruschetta and polenta appetizers which were ample in size and tasted fresh. My table was 10 deep so we probably covered the whole menu. We all had to get the leftovers wrapped up and were almost too stuffed for dessert... until they brought out the bread pudding with a candle and we all sang happy birthday. Perfect restaurant for families, dates, out of town guests... Great Italian food that's not pretentious or overdone. more

Best Italian place in Town 1/31/2012

YUM!!!! that about sums it up. This is a staple spot for my family. It's my dad's favorite Italian place and we have been going here for birthday/graduation/anniversary/etc... dinners for years. It's not all that close and it usually said something when my father was willing to drive any sort of distance to spend a decent amount of money. It's not cheap but it's a great value. Everything is fresh and prepared well. The portions are huge, so count on lunch the next day (see... it's really more of two meals... a total bargain). The wait staff is always very friendly and has good suggestions if you are torn between two or three dishes. more

Will recomend 1/28/2012

Gennaro's Ristorante true Italian 1/26/2012

Let me start off by saying the only reason this isn't a perfect score is because it is ALWAYS packed no matter what the day is. But one taste of their food and you know why. You walk in and immediately it's like stepping into an italian familia. There is a very lively atmosphere, which I loved. We came for dinner on a Friday night and were told that there would be at least an hour wait. We decided, what the hell, and walked over to the crowded bar. We enjoyed some house wine scoping for seats to open up at the the bar table. We found, while waiting, that the other patrons are friendly and inviting. They all seem to know each other! To the food, The steak was AMAZING. juicy, perfectly cooked goodness in your mouth. I shared that with the pasta which was out of this world. One of the best home-made pastas I've had in a long time. Might I mention that while it was crowded, our food was served so quickly that it was almost disappointing we couldn't stay longer. The server was sweet and attentive. more

My suggestion is to make the journey! 1/12/2012

Gennaro?s Ristorante is my favorite restaurant in Glendale. It's hard to find it, but definitely worst your time. I've been many times and never had a dish I didn't like. Their raviolis are always amazing. The meat and fish options are a bit out of my price range, but if the pasta and appetizers are any indication I am sure they are delicious as well. I am always amazed by the waiters who spit out a monologue of specials, each one more drool-worthy than the next. My only complaint is that usually there are so many that I can't remember the first few by the time we get to the end, but as long as the waiter doesn't mind repeating himself we're good to go. I went for my birthday this year with my family and we had an amazing time. They remembered me from my previous visits and was overly generous with our wine pours - but I didn't mind! The bur rata appetizer was melt in your mouth perfection and per usual, I ordered one of the ravioli dishes for my main which was awesome. Pricey for Glendale? Yes, definitely. But with food and service like that, it's definitely worth the trip for a special occasion and as authentic as authentic Italian can be. My suggestion is to make the journey! more

HOMEMADE PASTA!! 1/7/2012

Quite simply, the best Italian restaurant in America. At least that I've eaten at, and I'm trying to get to as many as I can before I head to that big Cardiology Clinic in the Sky. The Homemade Pasta? Delivered straight from Heaven on the wings of Angels. The shrimp appetizer. The sausages & peppers. Any of the daily special meat dishes, and more of the fish dishes. Skip the vegetables, they're sometimes overcooked, but you can eat veggies at home. Don't know about their desserts, never had room. Heaven......with a wine list. more

Best Italian food in Town 12/23/2011

I heard about this place for a wile finally I decided to try this place out, and I was pleasantly surprised how good the service was and the food is amazing. Great relaxing atmosphere very friendly and professional personal, this place definitely can accommodate small family dinners and larger parties and celebrations, highly recommended, definitely come back again. more

If you have not tried this place ??? GO! 12/22/2011

Food is fabulous. Pricey, but worth the money if you have the money. Great service, nice quiet atmosphere. Great Italian food, romantic candles, and real fireplace in a bar area.. Our waiter was very pleasant, food was delicious.. Tony ( owner of the place) stop by our table to introduce himself ? I really like this ?old style? running business idea) Good luck with your new business, Tony! I would recommend to change a wall decorations ( it remind me of my grandma home) more

Still a great italian restaurant 10/19/2011

It had been a few years since I have been here, but the food is still great. They have some great wine and the desserts - yum. I had a pasta dish and my friend had chicken, they were both delicious with great flavor. Its a great space for some special occasion dining, or a romantic spot with your loved one. And everyone was so friendly it almost felt like I was family. That is the kind of dining experience I really enjoy. more

Great Atmosphere, but needs to step up service 2/15/2010

First, let me just say I love Gennaros Ristorante. I love the atmoshere, elegance, romance of this cozy restaurant. It's where you want to celebrate Valentine's, Mother's Day, your Anniversary, etc. Pros: Elegant, Romantic, Excellent food Cons: Service is slow.. rookie mistakes more

Great Atmosphere, Poor Food 7/25/2007

Went on a Tuesday night for a special dinner, on entering, the restaurant is wonderful, good linens, fresh flowers, prompt service. Small canapes placed on the table were great and signaled what we hoped would be a dining experience that would match the decor, we were quite wrong. Pros: Good, attentive service Cons: MISERABLE FOOD. EXPENSIVE for the quality. more
