My god i love their sushi. It's the melt in your mouth kind of sushi that is just out of this world... worth EVERY PENNY. The rice is warm, the seaweed wrap is toasty, the crab fresh!! delicious!! more

This place is seriously the best sushi i've ever eaten. EVER! i currently live in austin, tx and have been anticipating my move to Atlanta so i can be reunited with this restaurant with which my roommate and i have fallen in love with. everything was perfect: the food was superb and the waitress who served us was so incredibly sweet, we went to and came back from our car to give her even more tip. though, truthfully the food is so good, i probably wouldnt have cared or even noticed if the service had been lousy. more

I can not get enough of Genki. Seating is prompt and the service is polite and attentive. The fish is fresh and the authentic sauces are delicous. Although I wouldn't recommend going here if you want fancy rolls- it is a must for a true sushi lover! more

The best sushi in town 9/21/2010

The best sushi in town, hands down. It's not cheap, but it's totally worth it. When I had a larger disposable income I used to frequent it twice a month. If you're a foodie, you'll love it. So the ambiance is not that of MF Sushi's, who needs it with food this good! more

So I went to Genki with a couple of my friends and I'm a very picky eater and don't usually go for exotic cuisine, but my experience was amazing. The host staff was very friendly and the mixed drinks were excellent; they have many of their own recipes and have put twists on many common drinks such as the mojito, cosmopolitan, and martini using sake, peach, and other flavorings. And the food! Even though I was venturing out of my comfort zone, the food was especially delicious. Anyways, long story short: check this place out!! I had an amazing experience and I'm sure you will, too! more

I would recommend Genki to everyone! 9/20/2010

I went to Genki one day and i had a great experience. i like japanese food and at Genki it was really nice the service was fast and the food is awesome plus the people are really nice. Esspecically the bar and the front desk. If u want to bring a date next time or just have a good time with friends I recommend Genki. I would recommend Genki to everyone I know and even people I didn't know! more

1st Class Sushi Restaurant 9/20/2010

I've been to Genki on numerous occassions. The first time, I just stopped in to try it out. I ended up parking my butt in one of the seats by the bar and enjoyed some great food! I enjoyed some great wine as well as a great conversation with the friendly bartender the entire time I was there. It's rare that you see a bartender have a conversation with every customer who sits by the bar and waits for their takeout. The 2nd time, I brought a date there for dinner. Upon entering, not 1 but 2 hostesses quickly dropped what they were doing to greet me and my date. The atmosphere was extremely cozy and romantic. Eventhough it was a pretty busy night, the wait staff was very quick and attentive. The drinks and food both came out extremely fast to my surprise as sushi restaurants tend to take a long time to serve especially when busy! The sushi was extremely fresh and the have a great twist on many traditional drinks and plates. My date had a great evening and was extremely happy that I took her here. more

This is our staple sushi restaurant we go to in Buckhead. It's reasonable, family-friendly, is always busy which is always important for me when eating sushi. The wait staff is always friendly. And the food is great. Love the Japanese curry! more

Definitely try their Japanese eating experience 9/20/2010

Genki has become my favorite Japanese and Thai restaurant. Not only do they have delicious food, the restaurant has a hip atmopshere one can only expect to find in Buckhead. The best thing about Genki's is their special rolls, they are addictive! The fish they use is undeniably fresh. Their teriyaki is superb! All of Genki's dishes are reasonably priced for their fine quality. Definitely try their Japanese eating experience. more

We went out on a limb and tried Genki 9/20/2010

About a year ago, we were looking for a place to go in Atlanta that had the quality and service we had in the city without the hassle of having to travel into the city. We went out on a limb and tried Genki and have been going there ever since - at least once a week. The food is excellent and the staff is extremely friendly. We were amazed at the quality of sushi, which is comparable to many places we go to in the city. For those who prefer something cooked, the Thai/Japanese kitchen menu is extensive and delicious. It's great to have a place to go that accommodates the sushi lovers and those who prefer their food well-done. Whether it's date night or just a casual night out with friends, Genki has yet to disappoint. The atmosphere is casual yet romantic and chic. It's a pleasant surprise to have a place like this in Buckhead. The cocktails, sakes and desserts are definitely worth a try! Mmmmmmm! more

I give this place 5 stars for food, decor and location. the place is so beautiful and big. Staff was very friendly. We were the first ones to show up on a thursday night (or wed, can't remember) so we got the long island drink (awesome!). The music outside was mellow and i loved the vibe of the whole place. Sushi was good and fresh. The cooked steak so well it was amazing, i don't normally like steak but i'd order this again and again! Place packed up pretty fast by the time we were leaving. more

Very Satisfied! 9/20/2010

First of all, I voted for Genki and glad that they won, I've been here quite a few times and I strongly recommend a reservation, especially during peak hours. Genkis is located in the heart of Buckhead and it's a nice place to go to get to know someone special (as I did this past weekend) or just hang out with friends and meet people. The patio is especially nice. The food is good, and the portions are plenty. I think the prices are kind of high for the food, but the location is prime so maybe pricey is appropriate you. Anyways, go with reasonable expectations and you will definately be satisfied! more

My husband and I went there last night. We ordered the Japanese Curry and it was fantastic!!! Our server was charming, our food came fast....very fast actually. Our tea was constantly refilled without asking, our food was introduced and explained to us as it was served, the manager Tyler came over and gave us his card and invited us back. I loved the place! The only problem we had was parking. My husbands truck is too big for the parking there . Oh well......One more thing....I never go to restaurants for ""the scene"" I prefer the park actually where you can look and dress and be whatever and whoever. I went for the food. It was fabulous! We will go back. more

My Genki Experience was Awesome 9/20/2010

My Genki experience was pretty awesome. My food was tasty, my drink was refreshing with kick, and my wallet wasn't damaged to badly; oh, and I made two new friends as well as flirtatious banter with another cutie-pie patron. I haven't had formal seating in the dining area, so I can only speak from a bar/terrace perspective, but if you're looking for a nice place where you can get an amazing meal, cool-hip atmosphere, and possibly chat it up a bit with your neighbor, this is a great spot. more

I've been to Genki about 6 times... I love sitting outside. My usual order includes kobe beef, sashimi and sushi rolls... all are amazing!! And the cocktail at the bar in that large pitcher is refreshingly tasty!! more

Sushi house catered to a white man 6/6/2010

This place was just ok. The menu is definately catered to the southern white man. But in a fix this place will do. Overpriced, but probably b/c the location is just so darned good. You could go to dinner then walk over to hit up some bars. I wouldn't go for the food, but more the convenience. Pros: Ok sushi, good location Cons: not authentic more

There are so many great sushi places in Atlanta and Genki is not one of them. I had some nigiri that smelled noticably fishy, so the freshness was questionable. On the rolls that we ordered, the rice was gummy. The spicy tuna roll had way too much of a sweet sauce on the top.\r The sashimi appetizer is $18. You can get the same selection, cheaper, and with better quality of fish at many other establishments. \r The food quality reminded me of Rusans. I wouldn't enjoy Rusans either, but at least it is cheap and Genki is not. \r \r \r \r \r Pros: Nice atmosphere, although the tables are too close together. Cons: Grossly Overpriced more

Warm and Yummy 12/17/2009

I had Soba noodles with vegetables and tofu for lunch. So warm and yummy in the cold weather. I used to eat at Genki all the time when I lived in Buckhead - I had forgotten how awesome the food is there. I could eat for days here. It is back to one of my favorite places for Sushi now that I am in the Buckhead area. Pros: Best Sushi and Warm Yummy Soups more
