This is a pretty normal thrift store. If you have a lot of time on your hands then you can really find some nice bargains here. They have some really unusual clothing and jewelry, and you can find some really good deals as well. But you do need to take the time to go through the items to really find the good deals. more

Standard thrift store fare, with prices that can be hit or miss 8/9/2005

Located in a mostly residential area of Mission Blvd in Hayward, Generations Thrift Store occupies a large shabby building next to a field full of dried weeds. In a way, one would think this thrift store would be less frequented, and full of treasures. Immediately inside and to the left, there are two display cases full of various pieces of old jewelry, watches, and knick knacks. On the shelves behind them are what appear to be the selections the store thought had more value. Some of the stuff is really just junk. But, if you look around back there enough, there are some really cool things to be found. The rest of the store is mostly unimpressive though. 75% of the store is covered in racks upon racks of used clothing. To find anything good, you really have to dig. I'm sure there are things worth grabbing, but I find it to be so uninspiring, I rarely look. On the far right side of the store are a row of shelves holding miscellaneous kitchen supplies, tchotchkes, broken radios, lamps the size of horses, dusty records, bad artwork, and busted toys. Again, you have to dig to find anything of any real value (whether that be monetary or personal value). But, occasionally you find something worth picking up. The store doesn't do special deals (like 50% off blue tagged items), and their prices can be a little more expensive than some other thrift stores I've visited. So, once again, you're left to hunt -- this time for the real bargains. Beware they close at 7pm on weekdays and aren't open on Sundays. more
