Gem Crest Kennels

We boarded our lab at Gem Crest. She had never been boarded before, at 3 years old. We made a trip to Washington to buy a house. I left WA early on the day I was to pick her up, and ran into a severe storm in Baker City, then road construction in Washington, and in Boise on the way to pick her up. I called three times, and told them what was happening, and they said they would wait 10 minutes. I would not even stop to use the restroom, since I didn't want to be late. At 6:07, I arrived, and the lady was about to lock the gate, so they did not wait AT ALL. The lady refused to get my dog, and continued locking the gate, as I pleaded with her. She was totally unconcerned. I got NO sleep that night, I was so upset. I will NEVER board there again. Also, our lab is very friendly, and loves everyone and wags her tail constantly. She loves to go to the vet. When I left her there, she was not wagging her tail & seemed nervous. I had never seen her like that. I guess dogs can sense when people don't really care about them. more

I have always boarded my pets at Gem Crest, and they are the best in the area. The staff is friendly and the facility is clean. The first thing I notice when walking through the door is the lack of pet odor. My (very spoiled) dog is always happy to board there. more

We boarded our dogs at Gem Crest Kennels twice. The first time the experience was fairly positive. Although we thought the facility was a little dirty and smelly, the staff was nice, and we felt ok leaving our dogs there. The second time did not go as well. When we picked our dogs up, they were very dirty and covered in feces, like their kennels had not been cleaned. They also seemed very freaked out and nervous. We have not been back. more
