I called their offices to request a repair quote on repairing my girlfriends laptop. Her laptop has a failed on-board video card. There is one open expansion slot on the motherboard but I was uncertain if the on-board card could be disabled. After waiting for the computer system to answer the phone because none of the humans could I was placed on hold. After a brief 3 minute hold a non-Geek Squad team member answered the phone. She said if I told her what was wrong she would relay the question to speed up the process. I asked her to ask them if they could add a video card or if the motherboard would need replacement (I had already found one online for $148.95) and she placed me on hold to ask the question. When she came back on she asked me if it was a desktop or a laptop. I told her it was a laptop and she told him (without placing the phone so I heard his response) and he told her to tell me I needed a whole new laptop. I informed her that I already knew how to change the motherboard and that since they apparently felt they could make more money off selling me a new computer as opposed to helping me I would just go somewhere else. Very poor way to run a business when you lie to a customer to try to milk them for more money then the repair would cost. This will be my last time dealing with them.
