Geek Squad

I can't say that I was surprised when I drove by and saw that this location is no longer in business. I took my computer in years ago to get it fixed. After waiting several days to get it back it still wasn't working properly! I ended up googling and finding a company by the name of Half Price Geeks. My computer was fixed the same day and the tech actually knew what he was talking about and didn't talk down to me more

At one point or another we all need computer repair help and I am no different. I found myself in need at the worst possible moment. In the middle night, when everything is closed and the night before a report is due. I called Geek Squad online support for help and was charged for the $199 virus removal service. They connected to my pc and attempted to remove the problem. After a couple of hours and a whole lot of coffee and nail biting they call me back and say there is nothing they can do. This time, the guy I spoke to had a heavy accent and seemed to be calling from overseas. And long with this and the fact they said the virus is too embedded to be removed without causing further damage and system instability. I get off the disappointing phone call and am still sweating because this report is 35% of my overall grade in this course and I absolutely had to have this done in the morning. I run a quick Google search for a solution when I find SecureRemoteSupport[dot]com who provides online services and have a “No Fix No Pay” guarantee. Wow that would be nice if Geek Squad offered the same promise. Within an hour they had diagnosed the virus and had removed it completely for $105. And best of all, I didn’t lose any of my work and my operating system was completely repaired. Apparently the Geek Squad isn’t as good at their job as secureremotesupport[dot]com is. I really appreciate their diligence on fixing my issue and suggest others think twice before contacting Geek Squad to fix their computer. more

Geek squad has always made me curious... How in the world can this company be so successful when they over charge, over promise, and under deliver? Ive used them a few times, only offering them my business when it was absolutly neccessary. They fell short each time and i've gotten to the point where I will no longer take any of my electronics to these guys.\r \r Maybe im being to harsh, but when you have to go to another company to get a second opinion, there is something wrong. I had these guys back up some data on my machine. They installed the software but didnt configure it correctly so that six months later when my computer crashed, all of the data was gone. Financial records, taxes, customer information, GONE. I went back to geek squad and sure enough the same tech that worked on the computer 6 or 7 months prior was STILL THERE. He didnt remember me, but was able to pull up my records and see what was going on. He said that it had showed they did indeed install it correctly. This was on paper, the actual machine itself was a overpriced door stop at this point. \r \r I consulted a company called, secure remote support, who was able to look at the machine. They determined that the geeks hadnt infact set up the backup program to backup more than the one initial time that it did the backup. Therefore the only data that had been backed up was the ONE TIME that they installed the software in the first place.\r \r Secure remote support was able to recover my data luckily, and get the machine back to running condition. They were then able to properly set up the program to backup on a daily basis.\r \r Im happy now, will never use geek squad again either. Pros: close by Cons: late, expensive, unqualified more

I went to this place when my hard drive crashed and was looking to save my files. They said that they could do it for 420.00!!! After asking a few more questions the sales person asked for my credit card. So if i don't pay they keep my computer. I am not knocking their policy but I didn't even agree to anything! I looked around and found a place that saved all my files off my computer to a new external hard drive erased the old one 3 times and installed a new hard drive in my computer for $84.00. Done.
