Worst Repair Service Ever 2/3/2011

Geek Squad has once again failed to keep their promise to. 3 weeks ago today, i gave them my broken HTC surround to get fixed. They told me the wait would be 2-3 weeks at most, and I just called, and they let me know that they are still ordering parts as of 3 days ago, and there isn't even a estimated return date. Meaning it will probably be another 2 weeks. It's ridiculous, I go to college and work, and i need a phone. I'm willing to put a deposit on a loaner phone, and I did, but it happen to also be broken and turns off every 5 minutes. Long story short, everything they say is a lie and don't take your electronics to them to get fixed, you won't be seeing them for a long time if you do. Or they just won't fix the problem, take your own risk. I ignored all the negative reviews i've read and heard, and I should have listened they have terrible customer service and no sympathy for their customers. more

Geek Squad Alternative 8/5/2010

At one point or another we all need computer repair help and I am no different. I found myself in need at the worst possible moment. In the middle night, when everything is closed and the night before a report is due. I called Geek Squad online support for help and was charged for the $199 virus removal service. They connected to my pc and attempted to remove the problem. After a couple of hours and a whole lot of coffee and nail biting they call me back and say there is nothing they can do. This time, the guy I spoke to had a heavy accent and seemed to be calling from overseas. And long with this and the fact they said the virus is too embedded to be removed without causing further damage and system instability. I get off the disappointing phone call and am still sweating because this report is 35% of my overall grade in this course and I absolutely had to have this done in the morning. I run a quick Google search for a solution when I find SecureRemoteSupport[dot]com who provides online services and have a ?No Fix No Pay? guarantee. Wow that would be nice if Geek Squad offered the same promise. Within an hour they had diagnosed the virus and had removed it completely for $105. And best of all, I didn?t lose any of my work and my operating system was completely repaired. Apparently the Geek Squad isn?t as good at their job as secureremotesupport[dot]com is. I really appreciate their diligence on fixing my issue and suggest others think twice before contacting Geek Squad to fix their computer. more

Dont WASTE your TIMEor MONEY. 3/30/2010

\r After having some family come and visit for a family reunion. I noticed that the computer was running slower than normal. It had been being used by the grandchildren and their parents to check emails and etc., so I wasn’t really surprised that it was affected by the additional use. I called around and got ideas of what it would cost to help speed it back up. I called Geek Squad and they wanted $125 just to come out and look at it. I was told that if my computer had been infected by a virus that it could expose my personal information to the world. This scare tactic prompted me into a hasty decision and allowed them to book an appointment based upon my fears. Their technician came out and started his service. In two hours he had found what he said was the problem and had fixed it. I paid Geek Squad and they left. After a day or two , I turn the machine on to use it when I find that the machine is having a Blue Screen Error Message (BSOD?). I shut it down and restart it a few times, hoping that this would correct the issue. It does not fix the problem. I call Geek Squad tell them of what is happening and am told that it couldn’t be from the service that they had performed. I explain that it was not happening before they touched the computer and it only occurred after the technician had done his work. Again I was told it was not their fault and was told that if I wanted another technician to come out and fix that it would be at an additional charge. I couldn’t believe they wanted me to pay them to fix their mistake. I then asked for money back if they weren’t willing to correct the error display I was receiving. I was refused the refund and again told they were not responsible. Not responsible indeed, irresponsible is more like it. I had photos, and tax information on the computer that I desperately wanted to retain so I had to find someone to help me. I asked a few co-workers and they referred me to Secure Remote Support and a couple other companies. I called all 3 and had each one of them explain, diagnose, and quote the repair on the problem. I went with the company afor mentioned, secureremotesupport-dot-com. Because of the poor experience I described that I had before with Geek Squad, I was very gracias when the tech a Secure Remote Support was able to offer me a promotion to get the computer back up and running without me having to take it anywhere. I was amazed at the level of concern for me, even when it wasn’t a problem they created. I will never take my business back to Geek Squad after finding out what a real, caring and honorable business is like. My .02? Stay 1,000 miles away from Geek Squad and solicit the services of secureremotesupport-dot-com. Higher level of service, and they saved me a lot of money!\r more

Geek Squad Curt & Unsympathetic 3/15/2010

About a month ago I started getting these annoying popups advertising everything from hair restore treatments to suggestions on how to increase my manly nature and please every woman on the planet. I always just closed them and didn't think anything else about it. To my surprise closing these windows by the lil red X actually ""gave"" those malicious pop ups permission to have a cyber party on my computer at my expense. I had always assumed that my anti-virus would prevent that from happening. Unfortunately I was wrong and now I needed a ""computer guy"". A quick google search on my roommates computer provided me with some options. I called geek Squad.. Waaay too exspensive and the person I spoke to was curt and seemed to not care about my business. After a few more calls I chose Secure Remote Support. I selected them because I didn't have to deliver my computer to complete strangers or have someone come to my home. Their website, secureremotesupport[dot]com advertised a remote repair service to eliminate my virus intrusions for $79.99. So I took advantage of this offer and they had me up and going within an hour or so. All from my the comfort of my couch. Best 80 bucks I've spent in awhile. more
