Gavora Studio

I went to Gavora because a friend recommended a stylist there. Before I stepped foot in this salon , my hair was in good shape and full of body. The lady made a mess out of my hair. She thinned my hair out on the sides and cut short layers in the back. I looked like a heavy metal rocker. I never cried over a haircut, but after this one, I was EXTREMLY upset. I am I never going there again! Cons: the stylists, uncomfortable waiting area, too expensive for the quality of work they do. more

We just moved to Manteca from San Jose and I was very nervous about changing stylists. Vadre at Gavora's was recommended to me from a few different people so I finally made and appointment. It did take a little longer to get in with her then I am use to, but I'm happy to say it was worth the wait. It was a little difficult to find the parking (it's in the back) but once I got in the salon I felt comfortable right away. Their front desk person was very nice and Vadre was right on time for my appointment! I thought I was going to just do my regular color, but after our consultation I decided to take her recommendation and go just a little darker. I would never have thought about going darker but she took the time to go over different options with me and I LOVE IT!\r Now I know why they came so highly recommended. I gave this salon 3 chances because it gets such good reviews. I figured I must have gone to the wrong stylist or something. All 3 times I was basically ignored, my hair color was uneven and Vadre was cold/indifferent. She didn't seem to care I was unhappy with my service. She gave me attitude when I went back the first time to have my color corrected. The last time I went in my hair was totally jacked. The highlights ran together and I had a huge yellow/orange blotch right in the back of my head and on the side above my ear! Vadre said it was fine! The girl that was trying to fix it told me she wouldn't dare send me out like that. I had to go to another salon to get my hair totally redone. The customer service is bad, the salon isn't all that and the prices are not good. Parking is terrible and the women that work at Gavora are on a high horse. I will never go back. I tell everyone I know to stay away from that place. Waste of time & money. Very bad results. I don?t care what anyone says, Gavora is not the best in Manteca. They are the worst! Let me start by just simply saying - I love my hair!! I looked up Gavora on Citysearch to find an email address to the stylist Vadra who did my hair, and found the review by the person that didn't like the trip to Gavora. My experience couldn't have been more opposite! I felt very comfortable there and with my stylist. There were very busy, but I never felt neglected. I have really fine hair and it can be hard to work with and I am so pleased with both my color and my cut. The nicest part is that I can actually make it look pretty close to how she styled it, myself. I'm not sure what salon the other reviewer was at, because I actually sat under their dryers (although they weren't the old roller kind, so she may not have understood what they were) and I thought they were pretty hi-tech and cutting edge. This place was truly disappointing. After all the rave reviews I was excited to go. The girl I went to was really rude. She didn't talk to me at all. Infact she had double booked- for the same time- and was talking to her ""other"" client the whole time while she completely ignored me. I wish she would have paid attention to my hair though because it was horrible!!! The cut made me look like I had flaps. The bangs were uneven. The color was really splotchy, it didnt go to the roots and a completely different color than I asked for. I think it was left on too long because she was busy coloring the other persons hair while I sat there and sat there and sat there and sat there. I kept asking people who walked by me, if there was someone else who could help me before my hair fell out, but they ignored me, eventhough me and the other client were the only ones in there. Everyone else was standing around drinking Jamba Juice. Finally someone came and washed my hair and dryed it. She didn't talk to me either. Everyone there was really really rude. The place is not that high tech either - they dont have the sit under dryers and someone has to stand there with a dryer and do it by hand. Which is kind of an inconvience if you are getting your hair colored. Parking was a nightmare. The chair I was in was very uncomfortable. This was definetly the worst hair experience I've ever had in my life. My hair looked bad, my color looked bad (and not the right color either), the staff was rude, my stylist was rude, parking was bad, equiptment was bad, seating uncomfortable and parking a nightmare. I think that sums up my first and last visit to Gavora very well. Only go here if you want your hair to look nothing like what you want and you want to feel like an inconvience and a hassel. Not only is this an awesome place to get your hair done, but I must say it is an awesome job to have as well. The clients that we see on a daily basis are what make it that much better. What else can I say? I've been Gina's client for years, even before she got to Gavora. Getting back into her chair isn't the most convenient thing these days (as I live a good distance away), but I still refer my friends and family that still live in the area! I've always had great results at both short and long lengths, and great highlights to boot! Go to her ... if you know what's good for you! Oh, and Connie's pretty good too! Pros: Price, Skill more
