Sadly, a good number of the drivers I have had have absolutely NO customer service skills or professionalism. Probably stemming from the fact that the majority of them hate their jobs as Taxi drivers, but must pay their bills.
Times ARE tough, there is no denying that. Many of us ARE doing jobs we would rather NOT be doing. Unfortunately, a good many of the drivers I have ridden with make NO effort to hide their disdain for their jobs and ( it almost feels like) their hatred for you. Perhaps they ""think"" you have more because you're affording a cab? I don't know. A sorry bunch of gentlemen driving Gator cabs. Despite that, I still tip them -- quite well, I might add.
People answering the phones do their best to hook you up, and resolve issues. But, it seems, drivers can botch up things just the same.
I shall be trying other companies in the future but I fear I may find much the same... a lot of bitter, unhappy people grudgingly doing jobs they would rather not do... just a sign of the times, I suppose.
