I rather drive my own car, insted of risking my Life riding one of your Taxi-s,No.4578 better start using his Turn signals,or you know what it good for,I will contact the safety Commision and have you people taken care of,there are lots of Idoits doing the same and Im not going to get the blame hitting the person on the rear. There have been so many Accidents here in Jax and the numbers keep piling up and Florida was ranked in the Third of the deadlest Traffic Acciendents that was in 2011 and they are going to be Number one,If they don""t smarten up.Our Goverment don""t seem to care. more

THEY ARE THIEVES!!! Arrived in 6/5/2012

THEY ARE THIEVES!!! Arrived in Jacksonville, shuttle from airport to airport area hotel. Realized I forgotten some needed items and wanted a bottle of wine for later; so I called their service. The 1st driver WAS honest, talkative and informative. Round trip including 2 stops and waiting at Walgreen's $12. Okay, day two and I need some aspirin so I call them again. This driver wasn't friendly. As we are driving down the same road as yesterday I'm noticing the meter is DOUBLE almost every block. The rate was 2. I'm like WTF but didn't rock the boat. Round trip 1 stop with shorter waiting time $17. Final day I need to make it to the bus station because I'm not flying out. Bus station is 12 miles from the airport. Called for a quote was told $1.75 to enter and $2.00 a mile. I ended up paying $38!!! Again rate was set to 2. Arrive in Raleigh and hailed a cab. Asked the driver was the rate 1 meant; he said 1 passenger. So, they (Gator Taxi) charged me double. F&*king Crooks!!! more

I got 3 good drivers.... 2/17/2012

I had to make 3 different trips in the same day. The first driver was nice, courteous and his car was clean. The ride didn't cost as much as I thought it would either. The 2nd driver picked me up from the grocery store. It was a really nice Asian gentleman. He helped me with the groceries and he was extremely nice and courteous. I think they sent the large shuttle cab since they knew I was at the grocery store, which is also very thoughtful. Then, I received a call where I had to get to my destination immediately. I did not have time to wait on the bus to get me there. So, I called Gator City a 3rd time. The 3rd driver was nice, he mapped the best route for me so I wouldn't have to pay so much, although this last trip was a little pricey. None of the drivers tried to run the meter up on me. Overall I appreciated the service all 3 times. I was able to get things done quickly. All 3 drivers were here within 10 mins. I don't know if it was just a good day for me or if people only write reviews when they want to vent and if there is good service no one bothers to write a review. But I believe that if you want good service it's nice to praise people when they do well so they can keep doing it. more

Some give their best... 3/26/2011

Sadly, a good number of the drivers I have had have absolutely NO customer service skills or professionalism. Probably stemming from the fact that the majority of them hate their jobs as Taxi drivers, but must pay their bills. Times ARE tough, there is no denying that. Many of us ARE doing jobs we would rather NOT be doing. Unfortunately, a good many of the drivers I have ridden with make NO effort to hide their disdain for their jobs and ( it almost feels like) their hatred for you. Perhaps they ""think"" you have more because you're affording a cab? I don't know. A sorry bunch of gentlemen driving Gator cabs. Despite that, I still tip them -- quite well, I might add. People answering the phones do their best to hook you up, and resolve issues. But, it seems, drivers can botch up things just the same. I shall be trying other companies in the future but I fear I may find much the same... a lot of bitter, unhappy people grudgingly doing jobs they would rather not do... just a sign of the times, I suppose. more

My Last Taxi Trip with Gator City 6/24/2010

I use Gator City every month I travel back to home to Jacksonville International Airport. Their taxi stand is very convenient when I don't have a ride home. On June 22 at around 5:00 p.m., I took a Gator City cab ride where the driver (a large, African American man with a strong accent) asked me (after we left the airport) that he wanted cash for the ride. I explained that I would pay the actual with my American Express and pay his tip in cash. He agreed. Then for the next 36 minutes spoke on his cell phone (at the top of his lungs) to two different people (one he said was his pastor). He did not once concentrate on driving but talking incessantly on the phone. When we were one minute away from reaching my destination, he hung up and put on soft music on the radio - Luckily my husband, who an attorney was at the destination when I arrived and I asked him (my husband) to retrieve my suitcase from the trunk of this taxi. I did not want this driver to drive off without my gathering my suitcase after I paid him for the fare. When I gave the driver, my American Express card - he had no pen to write with ( I gave him mine to keep) and he gave me a handwritten receipt to sign with the amount, no date, no company name, no credit card information. He did scratch off on a carbon sheet my account number, not on the original sign sheet. (Very shady). The fare was $59.00 from JIA to Orange Park. I tipped him $7 because of the horrible experience. I will never use Gator City again. Pros: Airport Access Cons: Bad Driver - Distracted the Whole Ride To My Destination more

Charged $143.83 to my card for a $17.08 cab fare!!! 11/14/2009

On Friday night, I was doing the responsible thing and not getting behind the wheel after I'd had a couple beers out with friends. I needed to get to a different bar nearer to my house where I was to meet my neighbor for a ride back to our neighborhood. I called a highly reviewed taxi service first, but their credit machine was down and I didn't have quite enough cash to get to where I was going six miles away. They gave me the number to ""Yellow Cab"" whose number is the same as this Gator City Taxi so I assume they are one in the same. I told the Gator dispatcher I would be using a card and he said that was fine. The taxi arrived in the timeframe quoted. The driver was a bit creepy and drove wildly. I told him I would be using a card and he was quite annoyed. I told him that his dispatcher said it was fine and he started going on and on about how they get charged to run credit cards (like that is my problem. HELLO THIS IS A BUSINESS.) I was upfront about the fact that I did not have enough cash to both pay for the ride and leave a tip, which I figured would make the guy glad that I wasn't being a jerk. Anyway, we got to the destination and he went and got the machine out of the trunk. He swiped my card twice and wrote me a receipt for the $14.08 plus $3 tip that I told him to give himself. The receipt clearly totaled $17.08. I wished him goodnight and went inside. This morning, Saturday, I checked my bank account and was shocked to see ""JACKSONVILLE TRANSPORT $143.83"" in my card holds. I immediately called and was told there was nothing they could do. The person I spoke with was VERY rude and acted annoyed with ME that I had the AUDACITY to call them when they overcharged me $126.75. He said call back Monday and maybe someone could help me. I then immediately called my bank and explained what happened, and THANK GOODNESS they are able to intercept these THIEVES and make sure that $17.08 is all they get. Also thank goodness I have my receipt which I have to fax to the bank, even though it doesn't even have the company name on it which is very suspicious to me. Hopefully this all works out. The bottom line is DO NOT use this company if you are paying with anything other than cash. And considering the other reviews, I'd say don't use them at all. Pros: The guy didn't kill me. Cons: Driver was creepy, STOLE $126.75 FROM ME. more

The Creepy Cabbie 10/19/2009

i walked out of K-Mart in Neptune Beach about to call for a cab becuz my car was broken, low and behold, there was a cab in the parking lot..i walked up to the guy as he was rollin his window down, first thing i noticed, is this guy had no teeth and his breath was astrocious...he asked me in his raspy voice ""where the f##k you goin lady""? i told him i needed a ride to the shop which is only a mile away, he refused because he was on a long distance buisness call regarding his diamond mine...i asked again, because I had a child with, he said ""look here lady, i dont give givva f@#k about you or your god damn kid"" again, in his raspy voice....horrible, horrible service from this guy, BUT i have used Gator City before and never had any problems! Pros: have had good service before Cons: horrible customer service from 1 bad driver more

THEIVES!!! 2/2/2009

My husband and I used this service after the Super Bowl and our drivers name was Ollie. I left my purse in the cab, which I realize was complete irresponsibility on my part, however, I would have thought Ollie would have turned it in to his office. No, he just went out and put 4 charges on my credit card immediately! I have filed a police report and spoke with a supervisor at Gator City Taxi, Reginald Henry, and he was useless. Everything was taken from me and will not be returned. This is a felony of fraud and when I go to the Shell station to review the survellence tapes, he will be charged and I will see that he and Gator City Taxi pays! DO NOT USE GATOR CITY TAXI! From the other reviews I have read, it seems like all they hire is a bunch of theiving, coniving people in the first place. Pros: Absolutely nothing! Cons: The driver stole from me! more

HUSTLED 2/10/2008

One of the drivers(LP- J10JEN) that live in my complex(Coquina Bay), found my sons cell phone(in the complex) and demanded that I pay him before he would return it. I refuse to be hustled by a two bit, uneducated low life. I can get my son another phone for less than what he was asking for. Even after my son asked him, he still refused. Now that's an all time low for an adult to refuse a child their own property. Believe it or not, he has children. I hope he knows karma is a powerful thing. more
