Very pleasant buying experience 1/4/2011

I was recommended to Gateway by one of our friends as we were on the market for a 2011 Highlanders. Tony, the general manger and Tom B. found us the car we wanted and gave us a great deal. Tom was terrific and friendly. It was absolutely one of the best car buying experience and I will recommend all my friends to go there if looking for a Toyota. more

ANOTHER GATEWAY RIP-OFF! 5/16/2010

I COULD NOT BELIEVE THE REVIEW I JUST READ FROM ROY OF 2005. I EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUES WITH GATEWAY IN TOMS RIVER, IN 2002!! I WAS RESEARCHING THIS DEALERSHIP AGAIN, WITH THE HOPES THAT THEY HAVE IMPROVED, AS MY FAMILY MEMBER IS INTERESTED IN A NEW CAR THEY SAW AT G.W. THIS WEEK, DESPITE MY WARNING OF WHAT I HAD TO CONTEND WITH, WHEN ORDERING A NEW CAMRY IN 2002. THE YOUNG KID I WAS DEALING WITH WAS A REAL SMART ASS, BUT AFTER NEGOCIATIONS & THE SIGNING OF PAPER WORK, I BY PASSED HIS LOUSY ATTITUDE, DUE TO THE FACT THAT I THOUGHT I WAS GETTING A GOOD DEAL AND AWAITED THE DELIVERY OF THE NEW CAR 6 WEEKS LATER. HOWEVER, WHEN I WENT TO PICK UP CAR, OVER $2,000. OF HIDDEN FEES (NOT LISTED IN CONTRACT) WERE PRESENTED TO ME, WHICH WERE NOT DISCLOSED DURING THE INITIAL DEAL, PRIOR TO THE ORDERING OF THE NEW CAMRY! AFTER COMPLAINING TO THE YOUNG SMART ASS I PREVIOUSLY DEALT WITH, HE WOULD NOT WAIVE THESE FEES. I TOLD HIM AFTER 9 YEARS OF DOING THE 3 YEAR LEASING WITH OTHER WELL KNOWN DEALERSHIPS I HAVE NEVER HAD TO CONTEND WITH TYPE OF PINEY MENTALITY AND HIS VERBAL REPLY TO ME, WAS "F.U.",SO I THREW THE KEYS AT HIM AND TOLD HIM TO SHOVE IT! A FEW WEEKS LATER, I HAD LEASED A NEW CAR FROM A PROFESSIONAL DEALERSHIP ON THE OTHER SIDE OF RT.37! more

Amazing Experience 12/4/2007

I'm not exactly sure what the gentleman that posted before me was talking about. I bought a brand new car from Gateway Toyota, and I have had nothing but positive experiences. Not only was it one of the easiest car buying experiences I have ever had, but I have never had a problem with their service dept. On top of all of this, I have referred countless friends and associates to Gateway for their cars. And all have come back with big smiles, beautiful new cars, and nothing but good positive things to say about this dealership. So please keep in mind that the gentleman that posted before me, probably is a malcontent, and doesn't believe that ANYTHING is good enough. more

Uneven with a mediocre service department 8/15/2005

Gateway Toyota will do their best to get you to commit to buying a car, but, like most car dealerships, they'll also do their best to screw you once you do commit. When you think the deal is done, a last-minute (read costly) glitch will come up with the financing, even though they told you hours before that you were approved at a certain rate. And if you have to bring the car in for service, be prepared to wait and likely be unhappy. While their car service support staff appears to be friendly, they are know-it-alls who will tell you that a problem is fixed when it isn't. If it's under warranty, they won't fix a problem unless you kick and scream and even then, it's a 50/50 shot that you'll get the fix you'll need. They do their best to make you feel stupid while giving you a big smile. more
