Gateway Pharmacy is a lovely store to visit if being harassed and accused of stealing ranks high on your list of enjoyments. After filling a prescription with my boyfriend we were approached in the parking lot by a man who flashed a badge attached to his waistband and told my boyfriend that he saw him stealing pill containers, which we had purchased 2 of at $1.99 a piece. My boyfriend emptied his pockets and even asked to be searched. We then asked to go inside and review the camera footage to prove this man’s ignorance and were denied. He took a picture of my license plate and told me that his problem wasn't with me, but with my ""drunk"" boyfriend, because he smelled beer on his breath. If one after work beer makes someone drunk then I guess he was correct. After getting in my car and starting to leave, I changed my mind and because of how outraged and embarrassed I was. I went into the store and asked for the man's badge number and name. Apparently that question is enough to have him call the police because I was in violation of trespassing. I have NEVER been so utterly embarrassed and truly mortified. I don't know what this ""officer"" thinks happened in the store tonight, but he couldn't be farther from the truth. If buying pill containers makes you a criminal then I guess we are. It's funny that the reason we carry them is because not only has my boyfriend had major back surgery, but he also suffered a heart attack two years ago and is on too many medications to name. So thanks Gateway for condoning this kind of behavior. What wonderful customer service and treatment! more

facts. son walked in on crutches at 4:50 and greeted by this... I'm sick of people coming in at 5:00 when I leave to go home! he apologized and explained he was at the hospital across the street getting an exray for the last couple hours. She said ok, well we dont carry that boot and it's $200 and I dont even know if your insurance will pay for it! Guess what lady... you just lost a sale...wonder if you would have been rude had I been there?! Are you discriminating against a college student... think you can throw your weight around pushing around a young man trying to make his way in life, being an adult, living 3 1/2 hours away from home for the first time in his life going to school?! Shame on you! I called the pharmacy - you close at 10:00!!! WHY couldn't you have gotten someone else to help him!? Sad world we live in. Next time, think if it were your son or daughter. Again, shame on you and he had the money to buy the boot whether the insurance covers it or not! your loss! more

It took 8 pharmacies until we found the antibiotic we needed for my sickly 3year old. Apparently, certain antibiotics have a short shelf life, therefore not making the drugstores a whole lot of money. The 7 pharmacies in the Limerick area, Walgreens, RiteAid, CVS (4 of them), Target, did not carry the meds we needed. Gateway did have it and they were open until 10 o'clock on a Saturday night! I had fabulous service & really rather drive a few extra minutes to go to an independent pharmacy who really pay attention & care than to the CVS where some girl with a bull ring through her nose & covered in tattoos talks to me with little respect. Because my daughter continues to need many prescriptions, I've needed to call around to pbtain them. A second time a second medication, Gateway was the only pharmacy that carried her medicine in stock. The other pharmacies mentioned above could order it, which would take a minimum of a day or two. I am sick of suburbia and all of its cookie cutter drugstores. Thank goodness there is a pharmacy like Gateway! more

Good store 10/8/2009

A real nice place but the woman Donna who deals with oxygen really went out of her way to be negative and condescending to me. And I treated her decently. Eventually my problem was solved. But I would not have her dealing with the public. Pros: Friendly Staff Cons: One unplesant person. more

CAN'T GET MUCH WORSE 8/26/2009

I've never found a drugstore quite like Gateway. If there were a way to take stars away, I would. \r The employee changeover is unbelievable. No one knows what they are doing. There was not a month that went by that there was not an issue, usually due to the employees.\r My scripts were never done on time, even when I called in advance on the prescription line. The pharmacist (one imparticular) seemed to screw everything up. Half the time they could not give any information to me concerning my medication. Thank goodness for the inserts. However, the majority of inserts had nothing to do with the prescription but had to do with rentals at local apartment complexes, their monthly drawing, some sort of 'natural' pharmaceutical or just anything to take up space so that you had to actually hunt down the medicine information. Once an employee in the pharmacy department took it upon herself to contact my (then) neurologist to let him know that I was receiving a prescription for a medication which she thought I should not be on. I received this medication monthly from a group of podiatrists. Sometimes a different doctors name would appear on the prescription form, which happens from time to time when you go to a group of a certain profession. If Doctor X was not available, Dr. A would write the script. She felt I was receiving this same prescription from too many doctors. Without her notifying me or asking a simple question or just adding 1 plus 1, she decided to call my neurologist and explain to him that I was receiving many different prescriptions from many different doctors. This went against the contract that I had signed with my then neurologist. He knew I was receiving this prescription from my podiatrist because I had told him so. But, with her calling and I guess acting like a raving lunatic, he dropped me due to what she had told him, which I have never found out to this day. Due to her kind heartedness and concern I lost my neurologist. You see, this neurologist was my intrathecal pump doctor who had my implanted pump refilled once every month and also provided me with medication for breakthrough pain. I have had this pump since 1998. Since he dropped me and gave me (out of the goodness of his heart) one last refill for both my pump and oral meds, I was then left to my own devices. Trying to find another pump doctor when you are on medicaid and no doctor wants to take on anothers pump patient...I was left to go through the most severe withdrawal you could ever imagine. When you are in a position like mine for over 21 years even going to the ER was not helpful. I suffered worse than anything anyone could ever imagine. All this was due to some idiot at Gateway. She, within a few days, no longer worked there. I wonder why? Also, my insurance provides me with approval for medications which I take regularly, like my heart meds, when I run out. They allow a 10 day supply of the medication while things are straightened out. Well, Gateway didn't agree with this and wouldn't fill the few days of medications without a fight. Guess they were afraid they would not be reimbursed. They are also the most expensive pharmacy around. Even my son who had prescriptions there was always given a hard time being as he had no medical insurance. It was just too hard for them to figure out and keep track of providing him with a weeks worth of medication at a time, being as that was all he could afford. I give Gateway a hugh THUMBS DOWN and would never again be a patron there. I now use Walgreens and I don't think I could ever find a more caring, helpful staff or pharmacist anywhere. And it is very important to me...being as I am on 17 different medications a month. There is NO room for error or being treated like a number instead of a human being. Pros: It's close Cons: Too many to list more
