A must do at some point being in the Twin Cities. Fun atmosphere, great food, friendly staff. Mario even came out to visit! The only negative would be that it is so expensive...

Worst

It was our first time there - it was a great atmosphere. The musicians were wonderful! Pros: Great party atmosphere Cons: Waiter, recommendations

A Must Visit, at least once! 4/6/2009

A must do at some point being in the Twin Cities. Fun atmosphere, great food, friendly staff. Mario even came out to visit! The only negative would be that it is so expensive and has HUGE food portions. If they were to cut the price and food quantity in half, we would visit alot more often! more

In a nutshell, if you're coming to the Gasthof, you're not coming for the food. Chances are, you're coming to what the proprietors call "Mario Kellers Bar". But really, who calls it that? Anyone who's been to this AUTHENTIC German restaurant & bar knows it as the Gasthof. And with glass boots of beer that weigh more than I can bench press flowing freely to the live German or Polish polka band, as college students chant and scream in German like a crazed Man Show audience, isn't the Gasthof really about being downstairs? They have food upstairs, in the restaurant, sure. And I hear it's great. I'd like to try their famous schnitzel sometime But that would mean I'd have to get there before 10, when the party starts. They do have an amazing German beer selection, with Gosser Light & Gosser Stiftsbrau, Hacker Pschorr, Lowenbrau (ok, maybe I'll pass on the Lowenbrau), Paulaner Helles, Paulaner Hefeweizen (super yummy wheat beer), and more. This month, in October, it's time for, you guessed it Oktoberfest. They put up a huge tent in the parking lots, there's no cover from 5-11, and there is plenty of loud, live music & fun Fridays & Saturdays through October 15th. more
