I went to Dr. Hoos as a patient with SEVERE migraines...During the first appt, he snapped at me because I was ""interrupting"" him...After that, I stayed very quiet..When I saw him for the second appt, he was actually much better and I was hopeful things would work out...He told me to come right in if I have a migraine and they would give me a shot...I had an emergency come up with my migraine which scared me very badly, so I called them and NO ONE called me back the whole day..I told them that I was waiting to go to the ER...still no call...During the next 2 days, the nurse was RUDE, and the doctor insisted on knwing EXACTLY why I was calling..I was calling partially to complain about his nurse who did not give him messages so I just said it was ""personal"".. She told me that she would tell him this and HE would decide whether he would call me back or not!! That was it!! It was 3 days without a return phone about an important matter!! I have very serious migraines...A physician who treats debillitating migraines should know about the complications that can occur...I ended up getting migraines dealing with this office!!! more

Dr. Pat Whitworth and his team makes you feel very at ease and comfortable from the first day you see them to you last visit. When we were talking about my symptoms I mentioned that I had a hard job. He twisted his head and said, ""oh that's it"" implying I was faking to get out of work. I should have walked out right then. He realized after talking somemore that he had really goofed, but the damage was done. I was only in about 20 mins and when I came out my daughter said, ""are you out already""? I said ""yes' and hurredly left.\r \r Don't go to him he's not nice. Cons: don't trust more

My previous Neurologist with Vanderbilt has been on leave so I went to Dr. Hoos. What a mistake. I have severe migraines and when I am out of medication they require me to come in for a shot! Anyone with migraines knows just getting out of bed is difficult - driving yourself 20 miles, parking at Baptist and making it into his office is absurd. Anytime I need care I was required to see Dr. Hoos in person unlike any physician I have ever seen. I was in dire pain one time and requested a refill of codeine (5 pills) and his nurse said ""No, that is a controlled substance. You can come in and see him and get a refill"". I had only had one previous prescription and it had been months! So I had to lay in horrible pain for 12 hours. Last I actually went in for the third time out of desperation to get a shot and the nurse said ""I have to give you two shots now not just one. We had been mixing the medicine previously and we just found out that we can't. It is not effective""! I have not found another good Neurologist since my last but I would rather wait 2 months for an appointment with her than ever see him. Cons: Rude, uncaring, lack of attention, very little knowledge of migraines. more

Dr. Hoos is, bar none, the best migraine doc in Nashville. There are only two good migraine doctors in this town...Hoos and Brandeis (sp?). Your internist may recommend Jan Brandeis or you may read about her, whatever...but forget it. She doesn't return phone calls, her office staff is snobby, and you'll get at most 3 1/2 minutes of her time. She's ""the"" migraine doctor in N'ville only because she publishes tons of papers on the topic and goes to all the conferences and speaks. Big deal. Dr. Hoos actually treats patients for their migraines with care and respect and tries to help them get well...get their migraines under control...or better yet stopped. He listens, he talks to you, he doesn't act like he's in a hurry (in fact, you feel like he'd sit there 30 minutes if you needed him to) he makes you feel like you're his favorite and most important patient. If your neuro. issue is migraines, go see him for a consult, you won't be sorry. Unfortunately his (male) nurse at the moment is a not so hot and not gret about returning calls (can't think of his name) but, hey, everything can't be perfect. Dr Dunbar is an associate of Dr Whitworth. She is absolutely wonderful...very knowledgeable and professional. I would highly recommend this center to anyone. more
