I wish I could make it a negative rating. The workers left a knife in my yard and when I called my designer they apologized and came over quickly to get it and talked to the worker, this was unacceptable as I have 2 small children. Then on the last job the designer talked me into a tree, they told me to give it a chance and if I wasn't happy they would replace it within the 1 year warranty. Needless to say after several months of trying to get them on the phone and leaving tons of voice mails, they claimed to not remember that conversation, and they refused to replace the tree. I tried to compromise and said at least just come yank it out and not replace it, and they refused. As a matter of fact the owner was cursing at me and accused me of being a thief and continued to yell at me. Ridiculous after all the money I spent there to be reduced to tears and made to feel like nothing. This cheap tree wasn't worth the terrible treatment I received by the owner. If you hire them get everything in writing and don't let them talk you into taking a tree you know in your gut doesn't look healthy, and be prepared for delayed phone call returns if at all. more

Garden Visions Nursery is a little off the beaten path, but worth getting to. It's been a family run business for decades. The sons who are now in charge are easy to talk to and are very knowledgeable about the trees, shrubs, small perennials, and annuals they sell. They said they've been at the current location for 40 years now, and their dad had a nursery in another town before moving it to Plainfield. They really know this stuff. They have been honest with me about trees that do well and not so well in our northern Illinois climate. They listen to what I need and offer advice if I want it. I was there today, and the trees and shrubs are in very good shape. The prices are fair. A sign at the nursery says that they also cater to people that put ponds on their property. I haven't dealt with that myself. They do a pretty good business and one of the brothers said it's pretty much by word of mouth. Neighbors talk to neighbors. They're not located on a busy street. That said, if you're on the correct street and drive nearby, you'll find them. They have a website that consists of their business name: Gardenvisionsnursery with com at the end. Their current calendar is to be open from April 1 to October 30 and closed over the winter. Check hours on their website. Because they rely on word-of-mouth, I'm doing my part by spreading the word here. Pros: Experience, stock, honesty, listens, advice, fair prices Cons: Not on a big road more
