I previously took my 1996 Ford Ranger to another auto shop I trusted in a different town, but they (in my opinion) misdiagnosed the stalling issue, did not want to remove the starter bolts, and still charged me almost $200 for installation of a temperature sensor. The truck continued to stall. I looked up auto repair shops on CSAA (AAA) web site and found Garden Highway Auto Clinic. I then took the truck to Garden Highway Auto Clinic. 1. They replaced the starter which required removing bolts in very difficult positions. The bolts were the wrong type, so they froze (I broke one trying to remove it.) 2. The Ranger had to be towed because the engine would stall and not start for a long time. (It was safe there overnight.) This was a lesson because online resources would have me replacing the fuel filter or fuel pump. Their diagnosis had them start with the basics, so it saved a lot of time. Horrible Customer Service!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 11/10/2010

After looking for a reputable auto shop to install a sway bar (simple task) in my car in Yuba City I came across Garden Highway Auto Clinic because it had a bunch of good reviews. I called and spoke to "Mark" who appeared to either own the business or was the manager. I told him I wanted to install an aftermarket sway bar on my S2000, he told me to come down so his mechanic could take a look at it, give me an estimate. He also said that they had time to change it. So I drove down (20 minute drive). My first impression of the shop when pulled into the parking lot was that they had way too many vehicles parked out front of such a small shop. The first thing that came to mind was either customers werent paying for their repairs and the cars were left there or this business was taking on more than they could handle thus creating long turn around times for repairs. Very Impressed 9/18/2009

Fantastic service, knowledgeable folks, had my vehicle diagnosed within hours of dropping it off, and completely repaired the same day. Final total was under the initial estimate, and they gave me a good head's up about other issues they noticed that may cause me trouble in the future, but were not pressing to get fixed just yet. Mark was very clear about what pieces would be repaired, and what the costs were. I won't be taking my car anywhere else so long as these guys are still taking business! more

Garden Highway Auto Clinic is great. 9/10/2009

Service is excellent. I have taken all of our cars to Mark for years. Mark is honest and fair. We had a car, that 2 different shops could not figure out the problem. Mark continued to work with us until he found the problem and fixed it right. We have never been to another shop. more

HONEST mechanic (YES! There is ONE out there! 5/11/2008

They are all very friendly and efficient. They do all repairs in a timely manner. Very highly recommend. The best way to get the job done is to drop it off, they call quick and can usually get it in and out on the same day. This shop is sometimes the only place that will work on older vehicles, but also sometimes the only shop to work on the very newest vehicles (my hybrid). Reading the other posts was interesting because Mark can seem rude at times; I guess...but he is VERY important to a whole lot of people and just moves quickly - he is honest about what HAS to be done, versus what SHOULD be done. He is never just sitting around...so if you are repeating yourself over and over then yeah...he might walk away (but so would I!). The one time he did seem a bit rude to me was because I was balking at a $450 repair right before Christmas...and when he walked away I realized I was thinking out loud and he didn't need to hear all that, you know?
