I would like to be writing a review about how good the food and service was, but unfortunately we were ""pressured"" to leave after trying to deal with an unhappy child for a couple of minutes.
We decided to celebrate my dad's birthday at this restaurant after hearing how good the steaks were. We walked in the door at opening time (5:00PM) and were seated. We had our two year old for whom they provided a highchair. Still no problem. We placed our order for drinks and an appetizer; all arrived promptly and as ordered (we had no issue with the waitress either).
Appetizer arrives and my daughter decides she wants some of the dip. We don't give it to her right away because it is hot. She screams... Now the problem. The hostess decides to come over and ask us to control our child after about a minute of her screaming; not cool. We paid for our crab ""dip"" (my mom kept comparing it to clam chowder from Ivar's in Seattle), canceled the remaining part of our $200+ order, and left for a more family friendly restaurant (The Chop House - similar menu, slightly better pricing, and for some reason my child wasn't fussing over there).
This isn't the most posh or high class place in town. It's a bar/steak house attached to a liquor store behind Sam's Club. If they are not ""family friendly"" then they need to say so at the door and NOT have highchairs or booster seats available. I had no issue with the waitress; she was prompt, courteous, and accommodating. The hostess on the other hand looked to be many years removed from her child bearing age which may have been the reason she was unable to understand that toddlers don't have an on/off button.
I will not be returning anytime soon and do not recommend this restaurant to anyone with small children. If you have been to a steakhouse outside of Augusta, then it is probably better than this place. I have found that many five star reviews of area restaurants are likely by people who don't know any better and have no clue as to what a particular cuisine should taste like.
Pros: Don't know... there's a liquor store attached?
Cons: Not family friendly.
