The Galveston Water Dept employees are extremely helpful, always polite and are the best folks to work with. more

Return phone calls and respond to emails in a timely manner. The length of time it takes the Water Dept. to respond to emails is absurd, and they have yet to return a phone call. more

BE AWARE NEW TENANTS 2113AVE O...RUN ASAP! 4/14/2011

Do NOT move to 2113 ave O street in Galveston. They steal your water, electric, and have a sewage leak under the house. The tenant that lives in the rear guest house feeds off of your utility meter! The landlords do not tell you or put it in the lease! Do not be fooled. I pray you check this website and get the warning before it's too late! Well it's never too late. Your lease will be void and take them to court just like we are doing. We moved out only after 3 weeks and I have two babies. Very sad. This is the third tenant they did that to! I got statements from all of them! Crooks and thieves! more

Bill adjustment 4/2/2010

I fully support the review of the other person on this non-functional 1940's water department in Galveston city. It has been 2 years we left Galveston leaving our house vacant and on sale. Due to IKE or bad economy of UTMB (who laid off 3000 emplyees after IKE) we have failed to sell yet our 2 storied beautiful house, though it was not flooded and located in the best neighborhood. We requested water dept. to consider our water bill who charges full amount bill (about $55 t0 $60) every month since last two years though not a single drop of water is being used in our house nor a bit of trash is being picked up by the city from our house. But they rudely told us there will be no consideration. We do not know for how long we have to keep paying the monthly water bill (until the house will be sold) for no service taken. Who do we appeal, BBB or Public Utility Comission of Texas? Pros: Inconsiderate Cons: Charges full bill even though the house is vacant for 2 yrs. more

The World's Worst Water Dept! 12/30/2008

I have lived in several different cities around the US, and the City of Galveston Water Department is the worst I have ever encountered! Their customer service and attitude is reprehensible, and they will not listen to reason when they have clearly made a mistake. I get periodic ultra high bills--like $1,000 on a tow tenant property---- which are completely unexplained and unwarranted by the usage at the property. Furthermore, they will not make adjustments to a water bill when the property is empty--- like during Ike and the current rebuilding period---- for trash pickup (which is expensive) even though they cannot even provide cans for the garbage to be put in. They will not answer the phone---everything goes to automatic voice mail and they won't call you back. They demand that you appear in person to start service, and will not accept any of the more modern forms of payment. They should consider an automated system to let you know what your balance is--- they do not have one. They are run with no empathy for the customer, and their ways of doing business are the same as they were in 1940! They, and the City Manager that administrates this dept, should be immediately replaced with robots! Robots would be much easier to deal with! more
