Galley 1/18/2009

Fresh is the key word here, with lots of battered and deep fried options. The seafood and crabs are as tasty as can be and they also make a mean Po Boy here. more

Good softshell crab and fried shrimp 7/2/2008

Good softshell crab and fried shrimp. Restaurant is like an old seafood restaurant--not fancy, which is just fine b/c it's the food that counts. But some items are way overpriced. more

Best Kept Secret 6/11/2008

I love the Galley. Me and my family and friends have been going to the Galley for years and 3 things have never changed, the food, that is amazing, the fast and efficient service, and the friendly owners and employees. I recommend the Galley to anyone looking for great seafood in New Orleans. You won't regret it. Pros: food and service Cons: none! more

Great food, great atmosphere 5/23/2008

I can only assume that the people making negative comments about 'attitude' are not native New Orleanians. They are confusing local culture, which is unique, with other places that are not! Pros: great atmosphere more

Right on the money 5/16/2008

To the reviewer claiming that the person on the phone was rude and should take care of their customers... she was taking care of her customers. That was the point. When you go in to the restaurant then you will also be a customer and receive the same consideration when someone is rude enough to call during the lunch rush and ask for something that can clearly wait until later. If you had ever been there you would know that they are always packed so your ""potential"" check probably doesn't hurt their business too bad because people who know good food go back for more. You know, because it's good. Actually, REALLY good. more

Worth and 8 hour drive! Great Seafood- where the locals go 2/23/2008

We love the Galley. On our trips to the area we eat there twice in one day. Wonderful Red-fish, Shrimp, sweet potato french fries and Blue crab. We ate there on our honeymoon. It is a family run establishment and it is the Real Deal. Very popular at anytime of day, some people just need to go to Applebee's, and leave this gem of a restaurant to the rest of us. Great service, great food. We have never had a problem there. Going back in April for our anniversary. Pros: great food for the money, not a tourist trap, parking convenient Cons: We're moving to Red Stick soon so we can go more often more

Good food but bad service 6/22/2007

I have to admit that the seafood here is tasty and flavorful, but the owners are not helpful and the food is overpriced. $18.34 for an oyster/shrimp plate. This place is not a fancy, sit down and be waited on hand and foot restaurant; therefore, I think the price is too steep. Here are some problems with the service at this place. A couple of years ago, my father is a heavy man and he sat in one of their cheap plastic patio chairs that they use in this restaurant. The legs folded under him and he was sprawled on the floor. The owner rudely stated that he should know better than to sit in that chair and she isn't responsible for it. The worst part is that all of the chairs were the same. I have had other experiences with rudeness at this restaurant when picking up food orders for my office. Pros: Tasty Food Cons: Rude owners, poor quality chairs, overpriced food more
