Galaxie took the money and ran! \r Its a sad day when you purposely chose the local hometown company to support and they cheat you! Galaxie took the $2000 deposit for the roof on 3/25/2012 and we have heard NOTHING since!! \r We have called and called, finally filed a complaint with the BBB. \r \r Yesterday the sales rep called me back to inform me that he left the company in June 2012 and that he was mailed a letter stating Galaxie was claiming bankruptcy! \r Hometown guys...do the right thing and pay back the consumer deposit! PLEASE!! more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!! TERRIBLE---Read This 11/24/2011

I do not even know where to start. Galaxie is a terrible company. We used them for a new roof and gutters. First they gave us 4 false start dates. They never called to say to were not coming... we always had to call them to find out any information. It took over a month before they actually started the job. Then they had to take down my satellite dish. Fine. But they put it back up incorrectly and I did not get a signal until I payed a technician to came and remount it. Then the satellite tech told us that who ever put up that satellite dish did terrible job. Not only was it unstable but there were holes around it which would leak if there was a big storm. And they just layerd the shingles over the bottom of the bracket like that would hold the satellite in place. Did Galaxie seem to care? Not one bit. Now our job that was supposed to take about 2 days to complete is going on over 2 weeks and they are still not finished. Has anyone called to tell us when they will be finishing? No! Then they said they would send us gift cards for the trouble. Yeah right! We have not seen those yet either. But when they needed to prove that we signed a something we got that in the mail the next day. I absolutely dislike everything about this company and HIGHLY recommend people to go elsewhere with their business. The would not even get 1/2 a star from me!! (But I had to put one star to publish this!) more

Very nice, professional company to use! 4/19/2011

I had Galaxie out at the end of February to complete a bathroom remodeling project. I thought their price was high at first, but after my other 3 quotes they we're right in the middle. I have to say I'm glad I chose Galaxie for my bathroom! The foreman of the crew was really a professional. He knew exactly what he was doing, made it look good and completed the project very quickly. If I do my kitchen in May, which I will probably be doing, I will definitely choose Galaxie. And I would recommend them to anyone who needs work done on their homes. My mother is thinking about getting a deck built by Galaxie this summer. 5 STARS! more

Great Windows 4/12/2011

I recently worked with Galaxie to replace 2 windows. They were extremely helpful and did a great job not only installing the windows but very prompt and cleaned up when they were done. I will always go back to Galaxie for window services. more

Terrible Company dont use! 3/16/2010

We had them redo our kitchen during the winter. My guess is they sub contracted to another smaller company. Their workers would leave the door to the outside open all day... during the dead of winter but unfortunately they didn't speak a word of English so when I kept asking them to close the door they didn't understand a word I said. Not to mention their work was shotty and sub standard. Some of the lights they put up dont work and bits of grout are stuck to the tiles and now wont come off because they are hard and dried in place. OH and while doing the tile work on the walls they pulled the casing around the windows forward and didn't put it back in place or seal it so now I feel a draft from the cold winter wind in my kitchen. The faucet they installed soon leaked water and now the wood under the sink is warped and ruined, I had to have a *good* plumber fix that. Not to mention they took way longer than they estimated and left for 2 weeks in the middle of the project to do work some where else. Use at your own risk.! Pros: They finally left Cons: Everything else more

A garden can not be vacuumed -explain this to them 4/4/2009

I live next to a home that was remodeled by this company. Before they started construction I asked if they would protect my yard from the construction, and they said yes. They didn't. They dumped insulation and all kinds of construction debris everywhere. When I mentioned it, they cleaned up... taking with them all the mulch and fertilizer I had placed on the ground to protect my plants over the winter. I had to buy my own tarp to stop further damage. I have seen other companies use tarp to protect neighbors from debris. This company doesn't. I am still picking up fiberglass, styrofoam, vinyl siding pieces and screws around my yard. Pros: they finish Cons: they dump polluting stuff everywhere more

Galaxie Construction in Lincolnwood IL RIP OFF 11/2/2008

Galaxie Constuction in Lincolnwood is A RIPOFF! They are expensive, use cheap material, go past agreed deadline for completion, and aren't great with follow up at all. They work dirty, they don't clean up, did I mention expensive, they lie to you, and they just overall aren't reliable. I noticed another person wrote about them being overpriced and not trust worthy. Our neighbors used them, aren't happy with them either, and over a year later after completion, they still have HVAC issues. Que pobre! more

Modernized our Kitchen 9/17/2008

These guys aren't the least expensive remodelers in Chicago, but they provide superior work. My wife and I are very happy with the work that they provided and we will happily work with them again in the future. Pros: Certified Installers and they work directly with Insurance companies Cons: Can be kind of pricey but you get what you pay for. more
