Go for the wings - stay for the atmosphere, beer and Sabres games. Old Buffalo residence with a lot of history. Nice and dark, fireplace, hardwood. Gab's gate is located in Allentown with numerous bars in walking distance. The gate serves great buffalo wings, awesome pub food, and a nice list of specialty sandwiches and burgers. They were open during the October storm, when no one had food or heat. Packed, but the service was still great!!! I don't think you can be disappointed. if you like popcorn, you'll love gabriels gate! basically that's all we ate for an hour while waiting for our first round of drinks and appetizer. The table of six next to us arrived about 15 minutes after us, complained immediately and received 2 complimentary bottles of wine, one later accidently put on OUR check. there were no apologies made, and nobody checked in on us as we tried to be polite because it was obviously a busy night. When our food (appetizer and entrees together) arrived, it was cold, although when we inquired about it 2 minutes earlier, ""it wasnt even up yet, dude"". the greek salad had cajun chicken and the reuben was, no joke, WET. when we tried to return it, the waiter said he couldnt remove it from the check, although uneaten, because ""the owner would be mad"". the fish fries were 90% ""fry"" and 10% fish. This was, in all honesty a very busy night, but even excercising patience didnt help, as we were forgotten about, and no apologies were genuinely made. my advice is, if it's busy, complain loudly, immediately and maybe you'll be taken care of. i know this isnt always the case here....but i wouldnt take the risk. more

One of the more interesting places to eat in Allentown. First - the food is great, and the prices are very reasonable. Second - check out the decor... Gabriels Gate is in a historically significant building. Third - a great place to take a date! In wintertime, try to get near the fireplace. Fourth - during prime eating hours (even late night sometimes!) Gabriels Gate is very busy, but getting a table is often not a huge deal. Check it out! Pros: Romantic, Great Food, Cost Effective! more
