Worst

There nice enough-I've taken my dogs here for almost 7 years. I must say though, for routine visits, maintenance, and shots, it's fine. My dogs have been healthy. WARNING: If ...

Great job! 8/20/2010

I used to go to a super expensive vet in the valley. Every time my dog went in for a foxtail removal or shot, it was always well-over 300 dollars plus warnings that I should plan on having dog undergo surgery fora hip replacement or a 1800 teeth cleaning. Gateway docs have a great way of putting everything in perspective. My pup's hips are doing great (with no surgery) and the 1800 teeth cleaning was done at Gateway for 300 bucks. My 10-year-old dog has never felt better and it's thanks to the crew at the clinic. more

My son and I brought our beloved cat, Joey, of 18 years and 5 months into your hospital on Thursday, July 15th, we knew he was very ill. We want you to know how grateful we are for your professionalism and kindness to us on that sad day. We appreciate the humane manner in which you handled what was so hard for us to face. I have been coming to Gateway since 1996 or earlier and have always found the staff completely helpful and courteous. The girsl up front are extremely proficientin any need I may have for any of my dogs. Dr. J is my vet, he is the main reason I come here and always bring each new pet and also recommend friend to come. He also takes care of my sons dogs as well. I consider the Gateway Dr 's and staff like family. They always take care of my kids. more

I would never go to any other veterinarian. ?? 7/27/2010

I have been a customer for about 35 years now and have taken all of my dogs to gateway Animal Hospital. I would never go to any other veterinarian. They are very good, caring and professional. Dr. Villacana is the best more

Vet was more interested in my partner than my dog 3/3/2010

After a long and stressfull wait the the reception area,We were escorted back to an even more crowded area with lots of people seemingly as distressed as we were. The Vet,Jimerson quickly began to point out all the things wrong with our new dog we had rescued the week before. As I asked questions about services he was recommending, he became very defensive and began to talk down to me in a very condescending tone. Having a medical background, and owning animals all my life, he was not talking to a first time animal owner. He became very threatened, and shot down every question i asked, acting as if it didn't pertain to my new dog....Every time after that, completely dismissing me, turning to my partner and changing the subject and acting very unprofessional..Not caring about our new Dogs care,, and looking at me wishing i was not present for the experience......first and last time with that ""vet"" Cons: Crowded and uncaring more

If you need an affordable and caring veterinarian, this is the best one you will ever find. 12/3/2009

I have been a customer of Gateway Animal Hospital for years. Doctor Villacana and his staff are great and compasionate. I remember that when my cat passed away, they sent a floral arrangement to my house. I thought that was so nice, and showed they understood that a pet is not just a pet but a member of the family. They are also very affordable and competitive. They are very sincere and they will not create false hope if there is no way they could help your pet. Doctor Jimmerson is also great and cheerful. Very professional. This is the best animal hospital I have ever been to. more

Bad Vet Bad! 6/22/2008

\r If you truly love your pets, don't take them here. If you love being ignored or treated as if you're invisible once eye contact is made, then go here. I've only ever encountered one pleasant front desk assistant. They never smile or acknowledge you and say the common polite ""Hello, someone will be right with you"". I never feel welcome there. The vets are ok, except for the new young one, Dr. Gurmani...he was rude to me and then argued with me in the waiting room in front of another vet and customers, claiming he hadn't told me something regarding my dog's shots that I had just repeated back to him in the examine room (twice, so I was clear). Maybe he's just new and doesn't have that pleasant bedside manor yet, but I'm not waiting to find out. I've been taking my dogs here for years and am always uncomfortable...except for Dr. Villicana, he seemed cool, but not always there. I'm not thrilled with the fact that they are closed 12-2 weekly. Also, if you do go, pay attention to your bill, several times I've gone and they try to charge me $50 for an exam, when all my dogs are just getting shots. more

One Happy Dog 3/4/2008

Thank you - Thank you - Thank you!!! Lucky thanks you! You all could not have been nicer. Lucky is doing great now and he just finished his final medication. (I think he knew it was helping him) I can not believe what a difference it made. If only he could have told me sooner but alas he is a new dog now. I've told all my friends what a great place Gateway Animal Hospital is - (like you need any more business in your front office). Hopefully we will not have to see you soon other than his shots. You're the best.\r \r Jon & Lucky Pros: The smile on my pets face - Reasonal prices. Cons: It gets a little busy at times more

We trust them 12/6/2007

If you are looking for a great animal hospital that provides good service at very reasonable rates, Gateway Animal Hospital in Glendale is my choice. My husband and I have been taking our animals there for almost 15 years now. The service is always great and even though a lot of times they get really busy and the wait can seem long, the front counter girls are always so nice keeping us posted as to when our turn is coming up. Our pets love their doctors and they don?t seem to tremble and shake when we take them in. I?ve always found the treatments they have prescribed for our pets, usually clear the problems right up. We have not felt we were pushed into unneeded services like we have found in the past at other places. And if we've had any questions, we always get a direct answers from the doctors. Sometimes they are busy and we have to be called back but the do get back to us. I have found them to be very helpful and complete in any diagnosis of our pets. \r \r I asked then about the ?Escobar? incident that has been posted on some of the review boards that made the news a while back. Losing a pet is never easy and I understand how the Escobar?s must have felt but rather than going into details about what I know happened why not talk to them direct or stop by and talk to them in person about it. I found that I was extremely satisfied with their explanation of their side of the story. It was a sad incident indeed but also a very rare case. \r \r My babies are getting up there in age now. I know their time will be coming someday soon but I also know, Gateway Animal Hospital will be there for me when with the most compassionate and caring staff and doctors in my time of need.\r Pros: My dogs love them too Cons: They are inexpensive so they get very busy at times and can be a long wait more

Bravo Gateway Animal Hospital 11/19/2007

In regard of the Escobar incident about an ?accidental euthanasia? that was seen on the news a few months back and from the reviews I have read here, one would think we were talking about a different hospital. Here is my experience.\r \r I would like to thank Gateway Animal Hospital for the care they?ve given to my dogs Gypsy and Zero over the past several years that I have been bringing them to this hospital for vaccinations, medical care, boarding, and in Gypsy?s case, her euthanasia this past week. In reference to that last item, their doctors and the front office staff were very sensitive and caring throughout the whole procedure and made a difficult and new (for me) experience warm and professional.\r \r I do not get overly sentimental or romantic about dogs or pets in general, endowing them with anthropomorphic traits, but I don?t fault or deny others to have those feelings, and I am sure they are sincere and genuine. Even so I appreciated the care their staff has taken to meet the needs of all types of owners.\r \r Gypsy was an outside dog usually gray and dusty as a result, and when we left town for a few days we?d always boarded her at Gateway (she was a barker and the neighbors demanded it). But I remember whenever I would pick her up I was always dazzled at how their staff would wash her up and make her look like a show dog! Our baths at home NEVER achieved the same result. Their care and attention were clearly appreciated and admired.\r \r \r Vincent \r Pros: Excellent Staff and Doctors more

Gateway is Great for Me 10/2/2007

I've taken my dogs to be boarded at Gateway as well as had major surgery there for one of my dogs. Gateway is the only place where I can board my dogs and when they come home, they are "normal". They aren't all freaked out and they don't follow me around the house for days afterward. Also, Dr. V. saved my older dog's life. He's 13 and last March, they operated to remove a tumor on his spleen (they removed the entire thing...tumor as well as spleen). Well, it's now seven months later and he's like a new little man! They definitely saved his life. They've also helped him with ear infections and they helped my younger dog get over some kind of flu bug. All in all, I really appreciate Gateway for helping my pups at a reasonable price. Yes, they are always PACKED and you have to wait awhile, but I'd prefer that over a vet who was empty and had no patients. I do believe that they make mistakes but if you ask before they do any procedures, you can make yourself more knowledgeable. more
