G2 Salon/Gentiana Salon

I went to this salon after buying a coupon on living social. The coupon was for a massage,manicure and cut. First off this place is gorgeous, I didn't expect that big salon behind that little door. next the massage was very good and then came my manicure with Jessica. I did shellac for the first time and it looks great so far. Last I only wanted a cut but they twisted my arm and told me I needed some dimension so I upgraded to a foil. I'm so glad I did because I love my new look. Gentiana I am a fan. I read the reviews before this and have to say, my manicure was done properly and everything seemed well run to me. This place is hit or miss. I've had terrible service and I've had great service. The problem seems to be that they can't get a hold on their personnel issues. They can't keep a good aesthetician in the salon for more than a month. The cancelled three times on me, it's just so unprofessional. Do not get a pedicure or manicure here, it's ridiculous and you'll get a better outcome for the money if you just go to one of the Asian places in the mall. My nails were cut uneven and not filed, cuticles weren't cleaned up either, it's simply ridiculous. I was very happy with my brazillian waxes, however, like I said before, they can't keep the same person employed and the turn over started to give me a headache. Which by the way brings me to the point that they try to sell you these ""savings"" packages by buying in bulk, but what good is it when you can't even get in to have the service performed (like I said, they cancelled on me 3 times). I feel jipped, like I gave them my money and now I'm obligated to keep seeing them, even though I don't want to. I had a horrific experience with my haircut, but the owner of the salon helped by inviting me back to fix it. I'd have to say, she is the only reason I would ever go back. Such a sweet and caring person and she knows how to cut hair. This place is mismanaged and needs an overhaul of it's staff if its ever to exceed and be the ""best"". I wish it luck, but unfortunately, I will NEVER go back as I like to have all my services performed in the same place for convenience. If they could just get a hold on their staff issues, they might have a chance. more

I went in to have my roots done because they were long over due. Steph colored my hair. Shes very friendly & knows just how to make you feel right at home. The whole time she was offering me beverages and asking me if I wanted magazines to look through while the color settled. My color was perfect and my blowdry came out great . Sundays my babyshower & I plan to go back & have my hair styled and my makeup done. Thanks Steph more

I had another lovely experience at Gentiana Salon. Changed my hair color and I've received soooo many compliments; so I thought I'd share First of all, when you follow a stylist from one salon to another, that says something right there. I told Shannon, my stylist, the color I wanted, a deep, deep red with some dark brown so there was no orange. I picked the two color swatches that I wanted my hair to look like and, I'm telling you, it is amazing. I'm so glad I've found a place that can go to, receive excellent service, feel at home and leave feeling beautiful. THANKS SHANNON! Ask for the signature blow out. They use 5 round brushes to dry your hair and it gives it soooo much body. I've never seen anything like it. Awesome. more

I have been going to this salon since it opened, and I am very happy with it. Unlike a lot of other places I tried over the years, I find that the stylists here actually listen to how I want my hair done, rather than just nodding and doing what they want. It is rare for me to find a hair salon that I am happy with, and I have found that here. I never have to wait more than a minute or two from when I get in to starting my appointment, and have always been happy with the cut and color. I recommend giving this salon a try! more

I was very happy with Gentiana Salon. I actually went two weeks ago and had my hair done and loved it.The stylist did an AMAZING job. While I was there I found out that they also did massage, while I didn't get a massage that day, I did make an appointment for later on that week. That is just what the doctor ordered. I just had a baby two months ago and my back just has not felt right since. So on my second trip to Gentiana I got the massage done. Boy did it relax me . I swear my back has actually been feeling better then it was prior to this. It was so relaxing and she seemed to work out all the kinks in my back. I actually almost fell asleep towards the end thats how relaxed I felt. Relaxing lately is hard with a new born baby, so I KNOW WHERE I will be coming for my relaxation.( Gentiana) Just don't tell my husband! LoL... Maybe on my next appointment I will get a facial and a massage. =) Good job girls! You will be seeing me soon. Thanks for making my experience so amazing. more

I visited Gentiana Spa this weekend to cash in on a Dealfind voucher for a massage. The place was clean, great décor, overall very nice, but I’m not going to lie, the massage itself was less than stellar. I filled out the pre-massage sheet checking off the “firm-touch” box but what I basically got was lotion rubbed all over my body for 60 minutes. Not to say it was totally terrible, the table was comfortable and the music was nice, but I was expecting a little (okay, a lot) more. Not sure if the masseuse was new, but I felt more like something you would get for $15 at a massage school. Needless to say, thankfully I had that voucher otherwise I would have been upset paying $70 for the service I received. more

I love this salon. I had a foil and cut by Candace there and wow did it come out beautiful but it doesn't compare to the facial I just had. I booked with Alida and from the moment I walked in I felt like I had made a good decision. It starts with a consult to see what you are hoping to accomplish by this facial. She made suggestions and included what it would cost so there was no surprises. Then it was time to lay back and relax while soft music surrounds you. As i was lying there thinking how wonderful the cleansing felt I realized that the head ache I walked in with had gone away and for the 1st time in ages I was actually relaxed. Each step is softly whispered into your ear so there is no shock as products are placed on your face and when completed she handed me a mirror to see how wonderful my skin looked. I highly recommend booking an appointment with Alida so you can see for yourself how relaxing a facial can be! And by the way Candace does the best foils I have had done in 20 years and her cuts are remarkable! more

Found this wonderful salon a few months ago and I'm very happy I did! The ambience is wonderful - first class all the way. The people are warm and friendly.\r I got a cut, color highlight by Genna that is amazing! Love it! Their prices are reasonable and they offer specials frequently. They also have a beautifully unique selection of jewelry and pocketbooks they design themselves! You won't be disappointed! more

I lost the use of my left side making it difficult to style my hair. I'm thankful that I found Gentiana for making it possible to have stylish hair with minimal effort. Gena is truly a gifted hair stylist. I'm so confident in her remarkable ability to design a hair style that suits my face and lifestyle that I don't need to give her any direction. The salon staff is warm and welcoming and are truly happy when you walk out the door with your best face forward. If you want to look and feel great, I highly recommend a visit to Gentiana. I absolutely love this salon. Before they came to Peabody, I just went from salon to salon because I was never satisfied with the service until now. They have so much to offer from hair services to facials, and everything in between. My first facial ever was done at Gentiana's and it was wonderful. Everyone at Gentiana's is extremely friendly and eager to please. The atmosphere is so relaxing and it's such a beautiful salon. I remember walking in for the first time and thinking that I was in a sheik salon somewhere in NYC, you wouldn't think that you would find it right here in Peabody. If you are looking for a salon, I highly recommend Gentiana's, you won't be disappointed and you will find yourself coming back time after time. more

I have had my hair done several times at Gentiana's and have been extremely happy each time. One of the best things about having my hair done at Gentiana's is that I can work with the style at home. The stylists at Gentiana's take their time, listen to what you say, make suggestions and create a style that is suited for you. The salon itself is soothing, relaxing and very clean. This is how awesome Gentiana's is, my cousins come up from NJ now to have their hair done - 300 miles, what does that say?!? more

This was the best salon experience I have had. My color came out beautiful & cut was corrective from where I had been before. Genna was professional, accommodating, and QUICK ~ which for me at times is needed. I look forward to experiencing all of their other services. Salon is clean, beautiful and eccentric. I happened upon this salon when I saw an advertisement for $5 eyebrow waxes for new customers while shopping at Trader Joe's. I was so impressed, I started coming to Gena for all my hair needs. I like for my stylists to have suggestions for cut and color of my hair (they are the professionals, after all!) and Gena does not disappoint. She is always ready with suggestions, though she obviously wants to please me and do what I want. But her suggestions ALWAYS hit the mark. Additionally, she is able to recommend products that work well for my hair. I trust her completely. Additionally, she and her husband, as well as the rest of the staff, are not only professional but also very nice, remembering details of my life that come up in conversation. The whole experience is very relaxing and pampering. I have nothing but good things to say! more

A few minutes in there, with a gentle shampoo massage is paradise!\r \r Speaking of shampoo and conditioning services..Gena now has her own line of conditoners called ""Jealous""..a heavenly moisturing conditioner that leaves your hair shiny, silky and manageable in just 60 seconds. They use it in the salon and now it is my favorite hair product. It has the most amazing aroma.\r \r From the moment you enter the salon, you will greeted by a friendly, helpful, professional staff that wants to make you look your best and listens to your expectations. All services at the salon are fit to meet your needs as a client. I have been to Gentiana several times and have had my hair transformed from very dark brunette to a beige blonde - it was a process, as I needed to go through color correction to get to the blonde I wanted. \r \r I have to say Gena and Michelle have given me some of the best cuts/styles I have ever had. And they have some great products - Jealous line is my favorite.\r \r They work with you and listen to what your vision is while giving you ""real world"" feedback based on your hair's natural tendencies among other factors. Basically providing the pros and cons of what you're asking for. You're given all the information you need to make the right decision based on your hair's texture, your skin tone, etc. \r \r Gena is very patient and communicates your ""wants"" back to you to make sure she gives you what you want and you leave happy. \r \r Stop by and take a look at the clients as they are leaving - they all look great!\r \r A little history: I just started going to Gentiana salon shortly after my regular stylist (of 3 years) moved and they opened their new Peabody Salon/Spa. \r \r I stopped in one Saturday after a shopping trip to TJMAXX and Trader Joe's, just before they were closing, and one of the Stylists gave me a litte tour which included facial room, pedicure/manicure room and spray tan room. The atmosphere was warm and friendly and the layout was modern, clean and spacious. I liked that Gentiana is owned/operated by a husband (who can be found at the front desk occasionally) and wife (who is one of the headlining stylists). After having the same or similar style for years, I needed a change. When I went into Gentiana's, I knew someone there had great style just by the decor. It is a warm, relaxing and hip environment with a great energy. \r \r When I made my appointment, I told the receptionist I wanted a change; a real change, and that I had always wanted to be a blonde for at least some period of my life, she looked right at me and said confidently ""no problem, we can do that here"". She even listened attentively when I explained I've searched for a stylist who could actually do the job properly. From Boston to the burbs, after a series of botched coloring, or coloring that just looked oddly red (and not pretty red) tones, I decided to stay brunette and for many years put it out of my head that I might be able to go blonde. But for some reason, when I walked in to Gentianas I decided to give it one more shot and I am glad I did\r \r I'm still smart, but I'm no longer brunette. I finally have a real change and a new look, including the natural blonde locks I've always craved. And thanks to the stylist, it is just the right tone for my skin color and the right style for my facial structure. I have gotten more compliments than I ever have and my hair looks so natural, people don't remember what I looked like as a brunette. \r \r And let me tell you, the pricing is reasonable and the value unbeatable. \r \r And with all the money I save on traveling to Boston and parking my car, I still have money left over for a great piece of dressy jewelry.
