From the moment I entered this salon I felt comfortable. This is a difficult feat on Newbury, considering everyone thinks they are better then everyone else. My stylist was very...

Worst

the quickie version of their spa offerings is a waste of time and money. On par with doing it yourself. No benefit whatsover in the experience. Really disappointing. Cons: ...

Worst Wax I have ever had 6/4/2004

I went to G Spa because it of the the association with Grettacole. I was horrified at the layout of the waxing rooms. It was in the same area as people having massages which meant: it was dark so the lady couldn't see if she had removed all my hair- she didn't!; I was forced to whisper because I might disturb the atmosphere; The wax pot was so badly positioned that she dripped wax all over my legs. The lady saw what a horrendous job she had done but blamed it on the wax. Maybe if she turned on the light it could've helped her eye sight. They offered a discount but it was still rediculously expensive. I had to go back to someone else the next day to help wax the patches she had left behind. I also didn't like the attitude of the staff Cons: , Staff with attitude more

LOVE THIS PLACE 2/3/2004

I think that anyone would have to be CRAZY not to love this place. I am a regular customer at G Spa and I have never been given a single reason to go anywhere else. The staff is totally amazing and every service I have received has always been wonderful. Perhaps when G Spa was newer, they had some staff that was not up to their current standards but everyone there now seems to be dedicated and behave as true professionals. Give this place a try and I assure you, you will not be disappointed. Pros: Fun, Excellent Service, Great Staff more

Newest Hot Spot Lives Up to Expectation 11/5/2003

From the second I walked in the door, I felt so welcomed. The staff was friendly and eager to help out. I came in on my lunch hour, so was in quite a rush. They were able to give me mini facial and quick manicure and got me back to work on time!!!! Although I had a limited amount of time (like we all do this day and age) I felt ready to face the rest of my day, and I didn't have to spend a fortune on Newbury Street. I even went back to work looking better than when I left because of the free make-up application I received after my services. Overall, it was a great experience. The staff was very friendly and I make a point to go in often! It's definately worth a try!! Pros: Fast, Atmosphere, Quality Cons: Busy, Tough Parking more

Teen Club 7/29/2003

This new space is cute, modern. While the woman who checked me in was polite and articulate and seemed truly happy to see me, the woman who did my facial was unprofessional and dressed like she worked in a bar. She was more concerned about her outfit and who was coming in the door. Another tall woman paced around the spa with what seemed like her boyfriend on the phone;very distracting to me. The other staff stood around and stared at each other. Hair appointment was great, Brian is talented and worth the 50 bucks for my cut. I believe in young, fresh employees but they should be mature and good at what they do. I'd rather have a spa be less friendly if the services are super, this has neither. It's too bad the woman who checked me in doesn't do facials, she was the best of the bunch. Pros: cute, great product lines, good options Cons: inexperienced staff, unprofessional, hard to park more

Be Careful 7/18/2003

I went for a lip/brow wax when this spa was new. Instead of lying on a table I had to sit on an barstool. A woman applied coldish wax, the strip, and ripped--off skin bits!!. She then put ALCOHOL on saying it would help redness but it BURNED. They didn't do the browswax but plucked. I got home, saw skin missing, and called. They made me come in the next day, checked my face , and returned $10 (you'd think the browpluck too). Despite the derm visit &future lipwax offers, they were nonchalant, kept trying to get me to say I used Retin-A. Luckily I didn't scar, but the pain and stripes lasted a week. Waxing should be done with the client reclined, not atop a barstool! They should have recognized/informed me they removed skin, and stopped the waxing. There's potential but the staff needs better training. Pros: trendy atmosphere, good products, good location Cons: poorly trained staff, bad client satisfacti, cramped space more
