Their patience is unending 11/14/2011

They were so patient with me when I called with questions what must have seemed 20 million times. Each time I called and each new question was met with patience and a person that took the time to explain things in terms that I could understand. No one ever made me feel stupid or that I was wasting their time. Once I brought my car in, the understanding and explanations didn't end. Furrin Auto is now and forever will be my first choice for my baby. Thanks guys and keep up the good work! more

Fixed my VW right the 1st time! 11/10/2011

I had my VW in another shop for repairs. The shop that will remain nameless tried 3 different times to fix the problem unsuccessfully. Furrin was able to fix the problem correctly the first time. Now that I have found a shop that knows what they are doing, I will only be taking my car to them. Thanks everyone at Furrin for an outstanding job! more

Avoid 7/1/2011

#1 the mark up on parts is double or more. The work is not done with care. Always check what they have done and get them to explain what they have done and why? Find another shop unless you want to spend time having to double check the repairs. more

That "OH YEAH! BEST AUTO SHOP EVER!!" comment is clearly made by someone working at furrin. Service there is really bad. Always over charging and never getting the full job done. I won't go back. more

Anything for a buck 11/22/2010

I went in the other day to have my headlight lamps replaced. When I asked them to check my steering and a persistent beeping sound, they tried to charge me $95 just for the diagnosis. When I said no, they diagnosed it anyway in only a few minutes, while replacing my headlights, and suggested replacing parts that I had just done at Furrin Auto only 2 years earlier, costing over $500. I checked at another shop about some other things the service people at Furrin Auto mentioned were wrong, and was told (without being charged!) that there was no problem. more

Slow, Dishonest, Expensive, Poor Record Keeping 12/19/2006

Due to the limited number of auto repair shops that service volkswagens in Tallahassee, I decided to take my car to Furrin Auto. At first they seemed friendly, honest, and professional. This review covers several trips to Furrin over the span of a year and a half. Each time I took my car to Furrin for an oil change, I ended up "needing" several addition repairs. Over time these repairs became very costly. But I gave Furrin the benefit of the doubt and continued to go there. Then I needed a fairly major repair. They gave me a time estimate of about five days. The repairs took over 30 days. Several weeks later, the car needed another fairly major repair. This also took over 30 days to complete. After two fairly negative experiences with Furrin, I decided to take my car to the dealership for the final repair. The dealer was backed up for about a week, so I decided to give Furrin one more chance. Like Deja vu, the repair took over 30 days to complete. Since then, I have avoided Furrin and taken my car elsewhere. In need of an oil change, I decided to try Furrin once more. I dropped the car off for an oil change and before I could get home, they called me and told me that the check used to pay for the last repair (over $4000) has not cleared. The check had indeed cleared about 9 months ago. I returned to Furrin to pick up my car, but they refused to release the car until the bill was paid (for the second time). I tried to have my bank call Furrin, but their phone lines were out of service. After about an hour in the repair shop, I managed to convince them, with the help of the bank, that the check had cleared and that they should release my car. I have given Furrin several chances, but I will never return there. Please do not make the same mistake. Take your car elsewhere. more

very honest and fair but somewhat pricey 8/15/2005

I owned an older Mercedes for a period of time. The car had its quirks as one might expect. I took my car there to have a steering issue looked at. At no point was a mention made of a charge for an estimate. They looked at the car and had it ready by the end of the day. The repair bill was moderately expensive (to be expected with Mercedes). I told them I would get back to them about what repairs (if any) I'd like to get done. They asked if I had been told that there was an estimate and I said no. They proceeded not to make a big deal out of it and didn't charge me which I thought was very fair of them. While I ended up just selling the car, I did have alot of respect for them and their fairness and would have to say they were very thorough in their diagnosis. more
