Best

If you really enjoy ethnic Japanese food, I recommend going to Fujiyama. Their food is so delicious, it makes my mouth water just thinking about it!

Pretty Good, But Not the Best 7/13/2011

Being an avid sushi goer I love trying new places all the time. I was really impressed with their selection because they have many specialty rolls and some that I would have never thought to try like strawberrries and mangos on top, but it was pretty delicious. I was a bit disappointed with the sushi bc I felt like there was a lot of hype for this place. It was pretty good sushi but not mind-blowing. I love the atmosphere though and I go often during their luch specials since it's half off rolls. :] more

Bad service, good food 10/21/2008

We went to Fujiyama on Friday night. The place was busy but not slammed (we were seated right away). The waitress took an unusually long time to stop by initially, but took our drink orders. We turned in our sushi menu to the sushi chef and then waited for our drinks. We had sushi before we had drinks. It a was very disappointing experience since this was our first trip to Fuji since they opened in the newly remodeled building. \r \r The decor was very nice as was the atmosphere and food, but our timely wait service left a lot to be desired. Pros: Great location and nice atosmosphere Cons: Slow wait staff more

If it ain't broke, don't fix it! 9/21/2008

Fujiyama used to be one of my favorite places to go eat in Colorado Springs so I was very excited for the grand reopening of the newly remodeled restaurant. Instead, I was extremely disappointed by the quality of service. It all started when I pulled up to the parking valet, who spent 15 whole seconds looking me up and down as if trying to see if I was good enough to eat at his restaurant before he even said one word to me. After we were seated, my friends and I noticed that all of the old servers do not work there anymore. It was about 5-10 minutes later before our server arrived to take our drink orders which took another 15 minutes to even arrive. One of us had ordered a martini, which was not made the way he ordered it, and it also took way too long to even get to the table. We were the first table to be seated in our section, yet every other table received complimentary miso soup and we did not. After our order was placed, it took about an hour for the appetizers to arrive. Almost two hours of waiting later, our sushi was still not here. During that time, we watched every table in our section get more and more angry, and eventually all four tables in our section got up and left the restaurant. The management made no effort to stop customers from leaving, or apologize to them for the poor service. Eventually we decided to leave as well. Fujiyama has failed epically trying to come across as a more upscale restaurant than they were before. The staff really is what makes a restaurant what it is, and the new Fujiyama has horrible new servers (who all look about 18 years old and were hired for their haircuts instead of their experience) and deplorable customer service. This was probably the worst restaurant experience I've ever had in my entire life. I will never go back to Fujiyama and I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Cons: Everything about it. more

Really nice 2/21/2008

I loved this place!!! The food was fast and hot. I know someone said the sushi was warm but even fresh fish shouldnt be served cold but room temp. It depends on if your sushi has cooked ingredients, like tempura. I was really impressed with the variety and creativity of the sushi rolls on offer and I cant wait to go back and try more. One of our favorites was the Madame Butterfly roll. I also had the bento lunch box and it was awesome! The salmon teriyaki was hot and delicious and it came with rice, tempura, salad, soup and two California rolls!! I was really impressed and left feeling full and so happy that I'd had such a healthy lunch. We didnt have any drinks other than tea but it was very traditional and the drink menu looked very creative and they have a large selection of alcohols on display. Its a nice downtown location with beautiful decor. Polite service to boot, cant wait to go again!!! Pros: great food, nice decor, very traditional as well as new wave menu options Cons: cant think of any more

Downtown hype 1/31/2008

I saw some ads for Fujiyama so we decided to go there on a whim. The decoration is really great, and the place is pretty trendy. The food is served on neat platters. However, I'm only slightly distracted by outward appearance. Compared to other sushi places in town the prices were high and the sushi was warm. It kind of flopped around. Sushi is no good unless its fresh, and living in Colorado you're not going to get fresh fish anyway -- so they better do something to up the quality. I just wasn't impressed. Pros: Hip downtown place Cons: Not as good as other sushi places in the city, Very small seating area more
