Friday ARTini: horribly disappointing waste of time and money. 3/16/2007

The Friday Night ""ARTini"" is advertised as an opportunity to have some drinks, view art, and hear someone knowledgable speak about some of the works. Our group of seven showed up, purchased admission, and got in line at the little bar. A single bartender s l o w l y made $7.00 cosmos for about half the people in our group. Finally we were all served and started into the gallery. No drinks allowed in the gallery. Your kidding! Seems like they could have told us that at the bar. Four of our party went back to the lobby with their cosmos. The rest of us stood there looking around for a group or a sign or podium or something. I asked the cosmo blocker when the lecture starts. It's over. What?! It was 7:20. How long was it? She spoke about two pieces and that was it. What an embarrassment. Pros: Better than nothing I guess Cons: Absolutely not as advertised. more

Pleasantly surprised 1/15/2007

I know, it shouldn't be a surprise to get a tasty, fresh, well-priced lunch out that is worth raving about, but I don't remember the last time I did. Until today! I had to grab a quick lunch to-go after visiting the Frist Center and not only was the tuna melt and fruit salad delicious, fresh AND quickly made, but the portions were more than worth the price. And if you aren't that hungry, they offer half sandwiches. But $5.95 or $6.95 for a large, yummy sandwich and a large portion of fruit on the side? As long as they don't make the mistake of so many other places and decide they can skimp or change their menu items and make more money, I will definitely be back! more

""Art at its Finest"" 8/9/2002

The greatest part of the Frist Center is the hands on art projects. This is a wonderful place to bring your kids and let them experience art in its truest form. more

this center was made for walking 7/30/2002

An incredible place to friends from out of town, lots to see, but plan on standing on your feet and walking a lot. There are a few benches to sit on, but not many. A definite place to go on a cold or rainy day when outdoor attractions are out. Pros: good parking, quiet Cons: sitting area more

Frist is first rate 5/19/2002

Finally -- a visual arts hall worthy of a city of Nashville's size. They designers did a great job keeping the old deco feel from the old post office while incorparating new elements into the Center. The collections thus far have been interesting and look forward to even more as the Center becomes established. The interactive area for kids is entertaining and draws surprisingly well. Parking is available behind the building. Pros: building design, location more
