This place is great! 11/15/2010

I simply do not get the negative reviews. I have been taking my Saab here for the last 6 years and had nothing but positive experiences. Eli and his crew are honest, respectful and cost me about half of what I would spend at the Saab dealership. Further, they explain everything to me and show me exactly why a repair in necessary. They even give me a lift home if they need to keep the car for several hours! What's up with you negative people? This place is great and I would not go anywhere else! more

VERY Honest 11/10/2010

This is the best place I have ever used to to repair my cars. I have been bringing my family's vehicles to Fresh Pond Mobil for 5 years and working with Eli has been great. He will fix the problem I brought the car in for, and then tell me about any other problems I should be aware of. I want to know this ! I want my wife and kids to be driving safe vehicles that won't break down. His prices are great (fair and reasonable), he explains everything thoroughly and patiently,the work gets done quickly,he is very honest, and he remembers everything. I am very happy with all the repairs Eli has done and highly recommend this business and Eli. I have read the negative reviews and assume these were written by people who don't understand what's involved with making cars safe to drive and think they are being ripped off when additional repairs are suggested. For example, the customer who complained about their ""unnecessary"" ABS repair was wrong - a car with the ABS warning light on will not pass inspection so spend the money and fix it; these are your brakes ! They never should have bought the car with that light on plus the previous owner tried to block it by putting a sticker over it ! Don't blame Eli for your stupidity and the previous owner's ""dishonesty"". If you want repairs done correctly and to be told of any other problems, then Eli is great. It costs money to keep a car running so don't complain when you are told about additional needed repairs and then say you were pressured or ripped off. I hate it when a good man's name and reputation is tarnished, especially by ignorant people. more

Always there for us 10/15/2010

My wife and I have brought our cars over the various years (1994 VW Jetta, 1995 Dodge Neon, 2003 Saturn Vue, 2003 Honda Civic) to Fresh Pond Mobil since 1999. Eli has always been there for us: courteous, professional, responsive. He provides good advice and options for repairs. I've shopped around and he offers a fair price, even for simple stuff like replacing tires (cheaper than Costco for the same brand!). My only complaint would be that I question some of his service technicians' quality control. Other than that I am pleased and will keep coming back. more

What can my mother in law do? Eli informed her that she needed to do so many jobs and then she would be dropping it off to him every week paying hundreds of dollars for every job!! He is ripping her off , attitudes are horrible, and continue to "" find problems with the car."" HELP!! WE NEED ADVICE IN WHAT TO DO NEXT!!! more

Worst Auto Service I have Ever Used 3/22/2010

My circle of friends used to use this place because of great location. But we realized they are unbelievably expensive and I still wonder if they ever really made some repairs they claimed to have made. For example, we took in a big passenger van that had some intermittent steering problems. They ""fixed it."" It popped up again later. Because it was intermittent, they may not have touched anything. But I can't prove it. Yet, when we brought it back, they wanted to charge us more. At least that is consistent - they like to charge more. For repairs they did in fact complete, they charged us so much money that I felt they were challenging us to ""make their day"" and go somewhere else. They seem to bet on my laziness. So, forget about these guys. Pros: Location Cons: Everything else more

Unreliable! 12/30/2009

Unreliable! In order to pass the state inspection I purchased a used tire from the shop. The tire blew on me within a mile of driving off the shop. Aren't you supposed to feel safe driving off the shop after passing the SAFETY inspection? Well, I did not. Also, I had the wheel alignment done in the shop 2 months ago. While checking my car yesterday, I was told I needed an alignment! Thankfully I reminded the owner that THEY did the alignment just recently. Looks like you can be ripped off if you dont pay attention!!! I will not go back there! more

SC*M BAG LIARS!!! 12/6/2008

DO NOT GO HERE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, dont even buy gum there, it could end up costing you big. THESE guys are absolute slime, I took my car to get inspected, they said that there was a specific problem with a specific part, I took my car to the place I ussually go to, that is a nationally recognized service center with fully certified technitions and they said that it was absolutely fine, with no problems and most definitely did not need to be replaced, they even spoke to scumbag ELI himself and basically told him he was wrong...needless to say I took my car down the street and it passed with no problem, do not go here ever, go a little further to the sunoco right down the street, they are honest, these bastards will get whats coming to them, I am filing a report and have good evidence, I hear that the state is already on to them, I am actually considering taking them to small claims court, but if anyone would like to start a class action suit let me know...its a matter of principle at this point, screw the $30 bucks for the inspection Pros: Not having to be burned a second time is the only pro for going there Cons: everything, these guys will upsell you from the moment you drive in, you need new wipers? you will... more

Great,Smart,And Very Affordable 7/19/2008

First I would like to say that this place has been wonderful in every way. I have brought all 4 of my cars to this service station the Technicians know what the are doing and fix my cars right the first time. I have a BMW,Saab,Toyota,and a Honda and it seems like the always know what is wrong. they provide great service in the office as well the best by far Was this fellow named JACK great smile and very accomadating.I will end by saying they go above and beyond thier call to provide great service. more

Not Bad for Fresh Pond Mobil 4/4/2008

Fresh Pond Mobil did a good job. I know, I know. She has gotta to be kidding!!!!!\r I had a fuel pump replaced about three or for weeks ago.\r Yesterday the car would not turn over. I called Eli at Fresh Pond and he said he will take care of it.\r My car was just delivered to me via flet bed tow. So ..........I think that was good business and he wants to keep a good customer. more

SCAM ARTISTS 12/18/2007

I took my car there for an inspection in June and at the time they told me I needed new windshield wipers and a new fan belt, both of which had been replaced a few months prior. I declined their ""offer"" and I returned this week (December) for an oil change. Between June and December I did not touch the wipers or fan belt and somehow everything with those two items looked okay the second time around, but now my air filter and brakes needed replacing. I declined the offer. I overheard them tell another customer she needed new wipers and she declined. We compared stories and she told me they try to tell her that every time and that one time they replaced the blades without asking her first. \r \r Save yourself the aggravation and go somewhere else! more

Example of a business who give car mechanics a bad name... Let the car owner beware! 5/29/2007

People these are the facts: I took my car there with a broken rear differential. The manager Eli told me that it was replaced with a used unit in 'great condition'. 8 months later the differential breaks again. They replaced it under warranty. I had an independent mechanic check what was done and he said that they had simply rebuilt the old unit. 5 mongths later, you guessed it differential breaks again: Eli's response??? ""Thank you very much""!\r Bottom line: Fresh Pond Mobil people are incompetent as mechanics and liars as people. I strongly recommend if you want your car and your money, not to go there. I have tried many car mechanics around Boston and they were, by far, the worst... If your car is already there... good luck!\r K. Pros: Eli has people skills. You can easily be fooled... Total Ripoff 1/29/2007

I left my jeep with them and asked them to do an inspection, oil change, and change the battery. When I recieved the bill, it was for over $350. Without asking me, they had done a ""wire diagnostic"" and changed a few wires, for which they charged me $189. The guy was like ""yeah, it took hours"", except that I only had dropped it off 75 minutes before. Yeah, right. They also pulled a nail out of the side of tire, that must take three seconds. They charged me 15 bucks for it! Unless you have some sort of unlimited bank account, I would suggest that you take your business elsewhere. Life is too short to see a dishonest mechanic. Pros: 24/7 Cons: Total Ripoff, prepare to pay twice what it cost more

Fresh Pond Mobil 11/17/2006

The owner (Eli) of Fresh Pond Mobil is dishonest! And incompetent!! Bringing my car there was the worst thing ever! They rolled my window down and left the window down over night and it rained in my car. The seat is wet, the floor is wet, everything on the driver side got wet. They try to start up the car in the morning and smoke comes from the dash and Eli calls me and tells me something is wrong with my car and tries to explain that there seems to be an electrical problem. I get there and literally see a puddle on the floor, he says the window was up when he got there and takes no responsibility for what happened. The car no longer starts. It is going to cost thousands to fix there mistake. They were only going to do $60 of work (put in transmission oil). To make a long story short don?t ever go there if you want your car fixed.. This guy is crazy! Hopefully my lawyer can get justice. Cons: dishonest, liar, incompetent more
