Great atmosphere, very good food. 1/14/2008

I was a bit hesitant of going to French 75 because of the reviews here and reviews of the other French 75 restaurants but since i had a gift card, we said what the heck at least we're not paying for (most) of it. Fortunately, I was surprised to find that the atmosphere was lovely, service was great and the food was excellent. We went for an early friday dinner so it was pretty empty at first. I had the Three Way Duck which i would definitely recommend as it was delicious though i was not crazy about the foi-apples-cabbage (fancy cole-slaw) that it sat next to. The bf had the Flatiron steak with Pommes Fries. I had to keep my hands to myself or all his fries would have disappeared. He said the flatiron was very good and i second that after i tasted a piece =). I didn't get a chance to try the souffle but we are definitely going back again. Pros: Lovely decor, delicious food, great service, strong drinks Cons: Pricey, still have to pay for validated parking more

Really bad cuisine 7/13/2007

The amibience is upscale, the service is great... until it comes to the food itself. The other night I had ""shrimp in cassollette"" ($12.95). Shrimp were drawned in an oversaulted sauce that had a heavy taste of maio. Another appetizer I had was a dish of reheated fried potatoes ($7.95). You can imagine the taste you would get if you have ever reheated those. A side dish of mushrooms had a taste of a day old all-you-can eat buffet meal ($8.95) . The famouse French onion soup ($9.95) tasted like sugary water with onions - a Benningans' version tastes decent comparing to this. Potatoes au gratin looked like corn kernels in a mixture of milk and some cheeze flavor. The only piece of meal that had a great quality was an eight once filet minion ($32), perfectly done to order. If you go to a restaurant for the service, this is a place to try. If on the other hand you would like to have a meal, choose the next door Morton's. Pros: Service Cons: Food more
