This is a true destination restaurant 12/12/2009

Me and a few friends ate here on Sunday, 12/6. The restaurant really belongs in the city. An $11 martini had at least double the amount of Belvedere that any other place has for that price. The Freight Espresso martini used Patron XO Cafe and a donut foam?!? It was the best espresso martini we've ever tasted. The menu is large, and the cuisine itself has hands down come a LONG way from what is was a few years back. Two of us had the 3 course for $30 menu, the other had jumbo scallops with butternut squash polenta, brussel leaves, and pomegranate seeds. It was awesome, all around. Staff seems relaxed and confident, great service, going back for their $50 NYE menu and DJ! Pros: Great cuisine, awesome drinks, diverse scene Cons: Not sure? more

Petite portions, jumbo price 1/5/2009

We visited The Freight House for New Year's Eve and were very disappointed. While the quality of the food and service were acceptable, the portions were the brunt of jokes for our party of 8 for the rest of the evening. The ""Pan Seared Scallops"" appetizer featured on the limited NYE menu was actually ONE scallop. Granted, it was a large scallop, but if the menu says scallopS, then I would expect more than one.\r \r The entree I selected was a filet mignon. What was served was a petite filet. Again, this was not noted on the menu. Now mind you, I am not looking for mega, super sized portions. I am, however, looking for portions that are on par with other restaurants in the Doylestown area (Knight House, Pane e Vino, Paganini, Domani Star, etc). Pros: Location Cons: Over priced and small portions. Very loud. more

Wow, Wow, Wow! 6/11/2008

I hope the headline says it all. I am ultimately blown away by the way the freighthouse has stepped up their game. I mean, I have been coming here for years, but things have dramatically changed over the past few months. Unfortunately one of my favorite employees who constantly takes care of me when I dine and dance in the cocktail area has left, but on the up side, the dining room looks amazing with their new tables (sleek, elegant design), the menu tastes like a whole new chef has taken over (in a very professional, distinct, focused way), the new martinis were not only the best tasting, but the most exotic and interesting I've seen outside Manhattan. Both delicious in flavor and presentation, the bartenders are always nice to talk to as well as make my day better with an honest conversation most likely ending in laughter. Every once in awhile I even see the one guy hustling around flipping bottles and spinning things amongst a very hectic Friday night. Furthermore, I can't wait until the new patio is open. I mean this thing will probably be the largest in Bucks County...with a shuffle board? and fire pitt? Commendalble, bold, beautiful and well executed...the freighthouse has come a long way. more

Best in Bucks 8/4/2007

Really a great spot! The food was outstanding as was the service. They have a really nice glass selection on the wine list and my wife just LOVED the Blueberry martini. Being a city guy, I really love that I can find a restaurant of this level out in the area. Its very trendy, they play great music (NYC lounge type), and there's a lot of pretty people. Although there are a few decent places around, I really love whats been done here and it is by far our favorite spot! I would like to recommend they open for lunch though. This would really be a great spot for a business lunch. Pros: valet, great space, very chic Cons: only open for dinner more

Big city dining in the heart of Doylestown 11/20/2005

This is what doylestown has been waiting for. Although a well kept secret for 2+ years, it is the freight house's time to shine. The atmosphere is cozy but sheek, the food phenomonal. I had the porterhouse--perfectly prepared and well worth the money. The wine list is minimal, but upon asking, I learned a whole new wine selection will be available by the end of the year. Our server was fun and not stuffy or snobish like most of philly's staffs. The hot apple pie martini is highly suggested and raw bar is to die for. Expect to make a night out of this experience! Pros: the porterhouse, the filets, valet more

Beware 1/29/2005

I could go on and on, but in short the service is pathetic. I really don't know how good the food is - after over 1 and 1/2 hours of being seated we still didn't get our main course, we left! They ruined a what was supposed to be a festive dinner. The chef may be good, but from a service and management perspective, it's strictly amateu hour! There are many excellent dinning choices in Doylestwon - this is not one of them. Pros: Nice bar Cons: Service, Service, Noisy more
