Italian beef with garlic aioli 9/20/2008

I had to write in and tell you about Sharon's (Fred's wife) sandwich at Fredhots. She suggested that I try her sandwich which is Italian beef, sweet peppers and garlic aioli. I was skeptical at first but Sharon said it comes on the side, and you put it on yourself. It was so good and gave the sandwich a very unique flavor. Now when I have a craving for that sandwich I have to go to fredhots for it. The fries there are also very good, fresh cut, and served to you in a cone with a dipping sauce on the side. You must try her sandwich there if you like italian beef. \r Annie Pros: Great service, food delivered to your table more

THE ABSOLUTE BEST HOT DOGS AVAILABLE ON THE PLANET!!!!!!!!!! 8/26/2008

My family stopped in fRredhots & Fries on our way home to Florida this past July. We were absolutey blown away to discover the BEST HOT DOGS, GREAT FRIES, and the MOST AWESOME DIPPING SAUCES. The restaurant was exceptionally spotless (which is important to us), supplies were completely full on the tables, the eating area was really fun, representing sort of a retro feel, the service was exceptionally fast and delivered to our table with a smile and short conversation. The employees were very friendly and went out of their way to make us welcome and comfortable. We cannot say enough about the quality of food!!!! The absolute best hot dogs we have ever eaten and we are rather seasoned ""hot dog critics"". I am pretty sure we met the owner - he is the young guy with dark hair and well-groomed beard. All we can say is WAY TO GO - fREDHOTS . . . keep up the good work and please open one up in Florida on the beach!!! We will be waiting!!!!! Thanks for such an unforgettable dining experience!!! Pros: The absolute best hot dogs on earth!!!!! more

Absolute best EVERYTHING - Come Hungry! This is a MUST visit! 12/1/2007

My husband and I took my parents (from Vegas) on a HOT DOG TREK. Thought it would be fun to visit Chicago's best since they're always saying how much they miss Chicago Food. We visited 7 hot dog joints, all on several top 10 lists. We were all in total agreement that fRredhots & Fries was on the very top of our list. \r \r The Dogs were fantastic. We all had ordered a Chicago Style Dog with Fries. (Mustard, Onion, tomato, celery salt, bright green relish and a pickle). As we waited for our food, Fred came out to talk to us. I have NEVER been anywhere where the owner has cared SOOOO much about serving such quality food. Fred made sure we all had the dipping sauce of our choice for our fries, that our dog was done perfectly to our liking.\r \r We inquired about his sign (best tasting beef guaranteed) and we got an in depth description about his beef and his Debris Gravy Po Boy - which he makes fresh, himself.\r \r We had such an amazing visit, we just had to go back, and try some of his specialties. Fred mentioned his December Special, Reindeer Meat Hotdog, and of course, after that whole discussion, we just had to go back for the beef! We brought with us 10 other people to try our new favorite find.\r \r Can I just say WOW. I ordered the Reindeer Meat Hotdog, with mustard and Grilled Onion and my husband ordered the Big fRed Italian Beef. We split an order of Garlic Frites (Fries). We were in heaven. I can't get over how amazing this dog was, and although I'm not usually a fan of the beef sandwich, that was the absolute biggest, wettest (by request) beef and best tasting I've ever tried. My husband loved it so much, he was debating ordering another sandwich. \r \r Everyone that came with us was extremely pleased with their meals as well. \r \r Fred, not only is your customer service (you and your staff) outstanding, but we admire your pledge to a quality meal. We will be seeing a lot more of you! \r \r Pros: You actually get what you pay for, and then some! Cons: We're not the only ones who know about it, it's packed in there!!!! more

fRedhots And Fries is the North Shore's best new dog and fries joint...and much more! 12/1/2006

I grew up in the north 'burbs and Chicago and have spent my entire life eating the classic Chicago style hot dog, cheeseburgers, and fries - but I discovered a new spot in Glenview that is seriously the real deal! You can get the best classic Vienna hot dog (regular, foot long, or mini pups) or a number of very tasty exotic sausages with specialty toppings (I've tried the alligator, wild boar, Amy's chicken, and Leon's fresh brats - all fantastic), and the fries - freshly cut, double fried Belgium style ""frites"" with a variety of dipping sauces (wasabi, chipolte, garlic, green onion, others) that are all homemade and excellent. Not to be missed, try the house made Italian beef, or the combo with Italian sausage and sweet peppers. I think I've died and gone to heaven (on several occasions) every time I sink my teeth into it! They actually cook up a huge roast beef and slice it thin, rare, dip it in a secret au juice sauce, then stuff it into a fresh bun...it is sooo good! Also try the fresh Angus beef burgers or the chicken Italian sausage with peppers. The owner, Fred Markoff, is a super nice guy who opened this place with his retirement money (though he looks about 40), he wears a classy white chef's jacket, and he knows his encased meats and the food service business. He also plays classic rock, blues, jazz, and reggae - how cool is that while you stuff your face! The place is very clean, and service is friendly, prompt, and they actually bring your food order to your table. If you are looking for the best new thing in the 'burbs, or a quick bite, or great food to-go, then fRedhots is a must visit dining destination. fRedhots is my guilty pleasure when I have a dog and fries fix, and I've already been there a dozen times since the opening in late October. Brought my wife and 2 young kids who love it. fRedhots And Fries is open for lunch and dinner everyday except closed on Sunday. Located on Chestnut across from the Glenview car wash. fRedhots is the new top dog!! Pros: Free parking, tax is included in prices, $2 bills given as change, food delivered to your table more
