Editorial review from Citysearch 7/3/2013

Horrible customer service. They recently refinished my hardwood floors. After they completed the job, 2 of my doors were nailed shut, there was stain all over my baseboards, and half the quarter round was not stained. Damon Frazee never even bothered to look at the horrible job his subs did. The only thing he did was threaten to sue me if he didnt get his money in full for incomplete job. Stay away at all cost from Frazee. more

Great service 8/19/2010

I have dealt with Frazee on a number of occassions - their customer service is excellent, and I have been very pleased with their work. One one occassion, when I had just moved to the area, I was having Bruce floors installed by an independent contractor. I had not even bought the flooring from them - I had ordered the material prior to my move. They gave us great technical advice, got a rush order on some required installation materials I hadn't know I needed, and were VERY helpful. I also used them when I needed some repairs, and they were just great to deal with. more

Perhaps they should stick to carpet 6/1/2010

We hired Frazee to tile our bathroom because Frazee was listed by the concierge service from our real estate agent. The reviews on Angie's list also seemed to suggest they would do a good job. While we could have tiled the bathroom ourselves, I wanted a style of tile that my partner warned me would be a pain in the neck to install. So, instead of spending all weekend without a toilet and having lots of frustration, we decided just to pay someone. The initial basic estimate was only about 100 dollar more than it would have cost for us to do it ourselves, and given all the other work we were doing on the house at the time, having our weekend for other things seemed well worth it. We did all the initial demolition ourselves (e.g., pulling up baseboards, nails, the sink, etc) before they got there thinking that would save us the demo cost. This was not the case. The actual cost ended up being about $150 more than the initial estimate (although to their credit, they did stick to the estimate they gave once the floor had been measured exactly, etc, but still we should have gotten some discount on doing the demo ourselves I think ). Also, we live in a 60 year old house, so the walls are obviously not straight. If we had done the job ourselves, we would have done what is typical: lay the tile out first, starting at the middle of the room and working out in a cross, then adjusting and filling in where necessary before beginning. Frazee simply started laying in tiles from the back wall over. As a result, at the threshold there was about an eighth of a tile at the edge on one side, and almost a whole tile on the other side. This meant our tile (though technically straight) looks completely crooked. Also, the marble threshold they brought with them did not cover the area where the wood met the tile so there was a rough messy wood edge that we ended up fixing ourselves. After much argument, and my partner getting angrier than I have ever seen him, the tile guys pulled up the last few rows of tiles to try to make them look more straight, but the job still looks poor mediocre at best. They also did not seal the grout. Next time we will definitely do it ourselves. Pros: punctual, easy to talk to, helpful without being aggressive Cons: poor quality job, more expensive than anticipated more

Great Experience 6/8/2009

When my daughter started crawling, we went to Frazee to compare carpet prices. The sample we loved for quality of fiber, colorfastness, and durability ended up being on sale. We carpeted our downstairs basement, two rooms, 1100sqft and pie shaped staircase for less than what another store's estimate if half the space and no stairs. more

great careful work 3/9/2008

I recently called Frazee carpet after finding them in an on-line list of carpet businesses. I was very impressed with the quality of their service. We had a slightly unusual job -- we had some carpet that had been torn out of another room, but it was still in good condition, and we wanted it installed on the stairs. The person I spoke to on the phone recommended Bill and Cecil to do the job. They were excellent. It turned out that the carpet I had wasn't in quite as good condition as I had remembered, and when we rolled it out it was clear that there were some patches that were better than others. They carefully cut out the best bits of carpet that I had, and installed them professionally. It looks great. I could imagine that some places might hire workers that are barely trained in the simple installation of new carpet, and who wouldn't be able to do this. Bill and Cecil did careful, professional work and took pride in it. I'm sure they do the same when working with new materials. It was very reasonably priced too. Pros: very careful work Cons: can't think of any more
